About the role

Please note: This position is also being advertised as Senior Allied Health Clinician – CAMHS Patient Flow (527919d), and only one position will be filled based on merit. This role is eligible for a Multi-Disciplinary Allowance.

The Team:

Be a part of the recently expanded Child and Youth Mental Health Services (CYMHS) Patient Flow service! Patient Flow is the entry point for all referrals into the service and provide triage as well as advice to the public and other professionals. With a rapidly expanding CYMHS Service it is more important than ever that children and young people living with a mental illness receive timely and appropriate service provision. 

The Role:

As a senior clinician within a multidisciplinary team delivering person centred, recovery orientated and trauma informed care to all individuals accessing child and adolescent mental health services, and in accordance with the National Standards for Mental Health Services, Agency policy, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies:

  • Undertake a statewide specialist function for assigned referrals to and contacts with Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) by assessing the nature of the referral or contact, gathering collateral information as required and determining an appropriate and safe response pathway.
  • Ensure all contacts and referrals are prioritised in accordance with assessed individual needs and presenting risks and work closely with the appropriate care stream to facilitate a response within the required timeframe.

You will need 

  • Deliver assertive, comprehensive community-based mental health services which may include conducting comprehensive initial assessments, mental state examinations, risk assessments, formulating initial management plans, delivering brief psychotherapeutic interventions, psychoeducation, and facilitating appropriate and timely ongoing internal and external referrals as required.
  • Proactively participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and deliver comprehensive and effective handovers of all referrals.
  • Ensure the development and maintenance of effective relationships and communication channels with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, to promote timely and seamless access to specialist services and transfer of care.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 30 June 2026.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $114,851 to $121,886 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and possess specialist tertiary graduate or post graduate mental health/psychiatric nursing qualifications; or completed, prior to the transfer of nurse education to the tertiary sector, an accredited hospital based program that led to registration as a psychiatric nurse by the relevant nurse
