Global Business Integration (GBI) is an organization dedicated to supporting and integrating business change into GTLS through change execution, project management and risk mitigation.
How will you make an impact in this role?
In this role, you will support the execution and enhancement of the Issues and Events Management framework within GTLS. You will help ensure that risk events are appropriately identified, assessed, escalated, and remediated in alignment with regulatory and policy requirements.
You will contribute to building a strong foundation for issues and events governance by assisting with root cause analysis, corrective action planning, and sustainable remediation efforts. This position will play an important role in supporting GTLS’s transition to a new approach to risk event management under the enterprise Operational Risk Management (ORM) framework.
- Assist with monitoring and assessing issues and events within GTLS to ensure timely identification, documentation, escalation, and resolution.
- Support root cause analyses of risk events and help track corrective action and remediation plans.
- Partner with First Line and Second Line groups (Issue Management, LOBCO, etc.) to support the end-to-end lifecycle of issues, including governance, monitoring, and closure.
- Contribute to the oversight of open risk, audit, and regulatory issues to help ensure resolutions are sustainable and address underlying drivers.
- Provide day-to-day support in the execution of GTLS’s transition to RCSA, including documentation and process governance.
- Assist in monitoring adherence to American Express management policies (AEMPs), regulatory requirements, and internal standards.
- Contribute to risk reporting by preparing accurate and timely updates on control issues and risk indicators for review by senior team members.
- Help promote a strong risk culture by raising awareness, supporting accountability, and encouraging effective risk management practices.
- Build collaborative working relationships across business and control functions while supporting cross-functional projects.
- Adapt to a global role requiring flexibility across time zones and dynamic business priorities.
Minimum Qualifications
- 1–2 years of experience in Global Travel & Lifestyle Services or comparable risk/control-related work.
- Familiarity with operational risk, American Express management policies, internal controls, regulatory requirements, and governance frameworks.
- Working knowledge of Archer (or ability to learn quickly).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to summarize key points clearly for diverse audiences.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify patterns, and evaluate risk scenarios.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
- Foundational knowledge of operational risk management, control management, process governance, issues management, and/or audits.
