Job Description
At Olympus, we aim to make people’s lives healthier, safer and more fulfilling. We are hiring a Senior Strategic Marketing Manager to join our Infection Prevention (IP) BU Strategic Marketing & Planning team within the Endoscopic Solutions Division (ESD).
As an integral member of the team, the Senior Strategic Marketing Manager will lead and support key strategic marketing initiatives and serve as a subject matter expert in Infection Prevention and its related technologies. In partnership with peers across the globe, s/he will evaluate and identify future growth opportunities through ongoing gathering of data, information & insights, having a deep understanding of the market, customers, patients, and competitors, and ensuring informed decision-making that is grounded on a strong foundation of data and analytics.
The individual will work across the BU, divisions, and functions (e.g., Market Intelligence, R&D, RA/QA, Finance, Regional Businesses, Corporate Strategy, etc.) to achieve growth objectives, implement/refine the strategy, support strategic planning, track, measure and de-risk business performance, while ensuring a long-term business view. This individual must have strong agility to successfully pivot between the various responsibilities required of this role and will be comfortable working with global colleagues and across time zones. S/he will be able to apply a strong, data-driven approach to her/his work, have a holistic approach to strategy & business planning, and be a strong communicator (oral, written, presentation).
Job Duties
- Lead assigned initiatives (for example, assess opportunity and viability of strategic areas of interest, develop business case, present/champion recommendations).
- Support annual strategic business planning and resource allocation planning processes.
- Conduct business impact analyses by deriving a deep understanding of the market, customers, patients and competitors through market research and monitoring of the competitive environment; procedural/market growth; regulatory and reimbursement environment; analysis of clinical literature, care pathways, practice behaviors and emerging technologies.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to develop / guide business cases, strategic rationale, business/market modelling, financial/revenue modelling, ROI analysis.
- Partner with BU leaders and HCP Management to manage HCP relationships and initiatives (e.g., advisory boards).
- Drive KPI achievement, track & report on the business/portfolio performance, identify potential risks, and define risk mitigation strategies.
- Work in close partnership with the IP BU’s Early-Stage Marketing team to support new product development initiatives, evaluate external new business opportunities, conduct IP analyses, achieve product roadmap objectives, and ensure an appropriate balance between short- and long-term opportunities..
- Support other essential related duties and cross-BU/divisional initiatives, as required.
Job Qualifications
Required:
- BS/BA degree in relevant field required; advanced degree/MBA preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience within regulated healthcare/medical devices/ diagnostics, and/or healthcare consultancy with corresponding business experience.
- Global marketing and/or Infection Prevention field experience preferred.
- Other Considerations (travel/hours availability, etc.): Ability to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally.
Preferred:
- Outstanding written and verbal presentation and communication skills.
- Strong negotiating, problem solving and project management skills.
- Tangible experience leading projects and achieving results through cross-functional collaboration within a matrixed organization.
- Thorough understanding of financial statements, market modelling, competitive analysis, and budgeting.
- Ability to provide succinct, useful strategic insights to guide business decisions based on detailed data and business impact analyses supported by a holistic understanding of market factors.
