Activities

  • Direct the continual improvement of the refinery’s basic and advanced control systems to ensure their applicability as operational production conditions change to keep the process units running at maximum profitability.
  • Develop a close working relationship with Console Operators, Process Supervisors, Process Support Engineers and Planning & Logistics personnel to better understand operating objectives, major manipulated variables, disturbances and constraints. Use this information to identify potential APC opportunities.
  • Provide APC consultation to other refinery work groups to ensure quality installations that meet refinery standards.
  • Exchange information with other Total sites (US/ Europe) on basic/ advanced regulatory and advanced process control applications to share specialized knowledge to efficiently and effectively solve Total group control challenges.
  • Continuously study, investigate and evaluate new automation technologies and techniques to determine their applicability in refinery applications.
  • Train and develop interns and employees - promoting teamwork, open communications and technical excellence. Provide a high level of cross training that ensures that positions are adequately covered in times of absence of group members.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications:

  • B. S. Chemical Engineering or equivalent experience, and 5+ years experience as a process support engineer
  • Five years experience applying multivariable predi
