Description
** Are you a Registered Nurse looking for an immediate short-term assignment? **- 3–6-month duration -LOCATION: Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility - Detroit, MI 48211
POSITION SUMMARY: As a Registered Nurse (RN) assigned to work at the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive healthcare services to detained youth. Your primary responsibilities will include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the medical and mental health needs of residents while maintaining a safe and secure environment. This position requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with a diverse population in a fast-paced environment.
Key duties include conducting health assessments, administering medications and treatments, responding to medical emergencies, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure the physical and emotional well-being of residents. You will also provide health education and counseling to residents, document care, and ensure adherence to all state, federal, and facility regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Transcribing and medication Orders
- Safe administration of medications to residents per Doctor's order and MAR, Document on MAR, evaluate for effectiveness of treatment
- Evaluate/follow-up residents per doctors' orders/instructions, with proper documentation in EMR
- Respond to codes, assess, provide first aid/treatment, document progress note, and place on Doctor's list if appropriate
- Documentation of ALL interactions with residents, including complaints, request, Doctor's request, injury, post altercation
- Phlebotomy/Lab draws, obtain specimens
- Communicate with parents and interdisciplinary team
- Complete resident admission/release evaluation
- Report/Follow up/Delegation to LPN
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license from the State of Michigan (required).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR certification (required).
- A minimum of one year of experience within the last five years in one or more of the following areas is preferred: medical/surgical, corrections, or behavioral health.
- Possess a valid Michigan Driver License
Salary: $42.00 hourly
Employment Type: Special Services/Temporary
Classification: Non-exempt
Duration: 3-6 months (with possibility of extension, as needed)
Work Hours: 3:00pm - 11pm
