Senior Accountant

Job Description

• Job Title: Senior Accountant
• Report to: Chief Accountant
• Job Summary: Responsible for handling the accounting of vessel revenues generated and maintaining accurate financial records for the Greek tax authorities

Main Responsibilities

• Process vessel hire statements, reconcile records of operators and charterers, prepare voyage, TCE schedules for financial closing  
• Lead the accounting desk in maintaining the records of the ship manager for Greek tax compliance purposes
• Monitor payments and liaise with banks
• Assist in the quarterly financial closing process
• Assist with the implementation and maintenance of internal financial audits (Sox controls)
• Liaise with external Accounting firm/advisors

Requirements

Desired Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Accounting or Finance
• Familiar with IFRS/US GAAP
• Strong understanding of accounting systems (knowledge of Benefit software is a plus) and MyData
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications – Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets is required
• Minimum 7 years’ accounting experience in Shipping companies
• Ability to meet assigned deadlines
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Fluent in Greek and English
• Attention to detail and accuracy
