Are you passionate about developing staff, leading operations, and ensuring high-quality behavioral health care across multiple settings? Join Cincinnati Children’s as a Clinical Manager for the Psychiatry Float Pool within the Psychiatry Supplemental Resource Unit (PSRU).

In this leadership role, you will oversee a team of psychiatry-focused nurses and clinical staff who provide flexible support across the inpatient and residential behavioral health programs. You will partner with operational and clinical leaders to support safe staffing, workforce readiness, high-quality patient care, and employee engagement while meeting the needs of multiple psychiatry care environments.

Lead a highly adaptable team, strengthen workforce capacity, and help ensure exceptional care experiences for patients, families, and staff.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Provide leadership and oversight for the Psychiatry Float Pool (PSRU) team supporting the inpatient and residential psychiatric and behavioral health programs.
  • Foster a culture of engagement, accountability, psychological safety, and continuous learning.
  • Recruit, coach, mentor, and develop staff to support workforce stability and professional growth.
  • Collaborate with Psychiatry Operations, Nursing Leadership, Clinical Directors, Educators, and other stakeholders to support patient care delivery.
  • Promote workforce flexibility through cross-training, competency development, and ongoing professional development.
  • Integrate the Interprofessional Practice Model (IPM) into daily operations and leadership practices.
  • Support shared governance and evidence-based decision making.

Operations

  • Oversee daily staffing operations, deployment, and resource allocation across supported behavioral health areas.
  • Collaborate with operational leaders to proactively address staffing needs, patient volume fluctuations, and workforce challenges.
  • Monitor staffing effectiveness, workforce utilization, and operational performance metrics.
  • Identify workflow efficiencies and implement operational improvements that support patient care and employee experience.
  • Serve as a leadership resource for escalated staffing, operational, and employee concerns.
  • Support onboarding and orientation of new float pool team members.

Quality and Compliance

  • Maintain knowledge of regulatory, accreditation, and organizational requirements.
  • Partner with quality, education, and accreditation teams to ensure compliance and promote best practices.
  • Monitor and support staff competency, required education, and clinical readiness.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities that enhance patient safety, staff development, and operational effectiveness.
  • Promote standardization of practice while supporting the unique needs of various behavioral health settings.

Workforce Development

  • Build and sustain a highly competent, adaptable workforce capable of supporting multiple psychiatric care environments.
  • Support career progression, succession planning, and employee retention initiatives.
  • Partner with educators and clinical leaders to identify training needs and competency gaps.
