Independent Living, Inc., a progressive and dynamic cross-disability services organization and a leader in the provision of peer services in the Hudson Valley is excited to announce an exceptional career opportunity for an Accounting Manager.DUTIES AND RSEPONSIBILITES:
- Ensure that all cash is recorded and posted to accounts. Limit to no more than two (2) weeks cash posting to "unknown".
- Complete elimination of the MISC and OTHER account and reclass current balances to a natural classification. Responsible for monitoring the non-use of MISC and OTHER accounts going forward.
- Timely preparation of all bank accounts with zero (-0-) differences. All bank recs must be completed within ten (10) business days subsequent of receipt of bank statement. Submit for review and sign off by both the CFO and Controller.
- Ensure that there are no outstanding checks greater than ten (10) months old.
- Monitor and eliminate outstanding checks greater than one (1) year and send said amounts with a listing to "NYS unclaimed Funds".
- Review and ensure the accuracy of the book balance in QuickBooks on a daily basis.
- Work with the CFO to create a better Cash-flow report that projects cash for a two (2) week period.
- Recommend improvements to other fiscal processes for discussion with Controller and CFO.
- Assist in closing books on a monthly basis – including the preparation of journal entries.
- Assist in the compilation of the financial package distributed to the Board of Directors and the Executive Director.
- Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual reports to various funding sources.
- Prepare deposits and associated entry into QuickBooks.
- Reconcile due to/from affiliate monthly to -0- difference
- Responsible for the bi-weekly payroll for two organizations (ILI and IHC).
- Update payroll and accounting databases as needed.
- Prepare various reports related to payroll deductions and submit payments.
- Prepare quarterly worksite report and disability reports.
- Complete monthly reports for program managers/directors.
- Prepare step-by-step instructions for current tasks and assist with cross training of Fiscal staff.
- Assist with special projects as needed.
- Other fiscal related matters as required by the needs of the position or to maintain the fiscal integrity of the agency.
SHIFT:
- Monday through Friday 9am-5pm, flexibility based on the needs of the agency.
PAY RATE:
- $70k/yr

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, preferred, with 2-4 years of accounting experience.
- Associate’s degree in accounting with comparable experience will be considered.
- Excellent written and verbal presentation skills.
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Prior experience with QuickBooks and ADP required.
- Good analytical skills.
