Job Description Summary:

This PMO / Sr. Director for the Office of the CTO (OCTO) organization will be accountable for the outcomes and success of key investment initiatives. To ensure successful execution of the integrated, OCTO-wide, multi-year plan, this stream of work will oversee the coordination and delivery of major projects and programs, especially those with enterprise impact. You will partner closely with business units/functional teams to coordinate slotting and sequencing of key capabilities and business outcomes to provide tangible value as outlined in the business case. You will provide information and executive-level visibility into major initiatives, identify where interventions, decisions and follow-up actions are needed, work with teams to identify action scenarios, the criteria that trigger them, the information required to assess where leadership must act, and set expectations for major strategy changes and their impact assessments.

Key Responsibilities
The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not intended to be all-inclusive.

  • Utilize program and portfolio management best practices to ensure successful execution and business value enablement.
  • Lead and inspire a team of project and program managers to meet and exceed business objectives.
  • Develop an operating model for a centralized PMO that balances technical domain assignments with allocation of PMO resources. Partner with members of the Technology Leadership team to ensure delivery quality and proper coverage of resources.
  • As part of the Office of the CTO leadership team, participate and have direct influence on its strategic direction.
  • Implement, oversee, and synthesize learnings from PMO-wide processes and initiatives (business reviews, deep-dives, etc.).
  • Establish and maintain project management standards and policies that directly align with the enterprise’s long-term strategic priorities and goals.
  • Work closely with key program partners and Domain leaders to implement strategic initiatives.
  • Lead operational due diligence for project execution creating standardized reporting and dashboards, with clear, action-oriented metrics that convey the health of the portfolio.  Leverage corporate story-telling techniques to convey outcomes delivered by technology investments for a broad-based audience.
  • Ensure adherence to budget and timing of downstream dependencies.
  • Mentor and coach key operational and functional partners to drive the execution of strategies in order to realize measurable improvements in performance and growth.
  • Foster cross-business area/segment collaboration.
  • Work in a highly dynamic and changing environment and adapt to shifting customer priorities

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years experience in project/program management and delivery required, experience leading projects in an IT organization preferred
  • PMP certification preferred
  • Transformation experience
  • Change agent in a dynamic environment

Demonstrated Track record in the following:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across multiple levels of stakeholders.
  • Strong display of executive story-telling via various mechanisms (PPT, Dashboards, etc).
  • Ability to take complex concepts and translate them into a digestible format as needed based on audience.
  • Demonstrated delivery experience in project and program management.
  • Portfolio, program, and project management methodologies, methods, road-mapping, and metrics development.
  • Resource management and leveling techniques and tools development.
  • Ability to build consensus among diverse leaders and manage sensitive situations.
  • Ability to develop processes for PMO that allow nimbleness and the ability to quickly adapt to a dynamic environment and changes in priorities.
  • Ability to influence decision-makers to support communication needs through the use of correct tone, style, and arguments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple initiatives concurrently, balancing multiple priorities, working with minimal supervision, and meeting deadlines.
