The Emergency Room Reimbursement Specialist evaluates the emergency room visit documentation for accurate and complete charge capture, assessing for gaps in documentation with regards to clinical information, and querying the providers when necessary.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
Review clinical documentation to validate accurate representation of the patient’s clinical picture, treatment, and diagnoses. Evaluate complex emergency room visits that cannot automatically be billed through automation. Verify the auto suggested facility charge calculator evaluation and management level for charge accuracy. Assigns appropriate procedures, supplies, and infusion/injection administrative charges.
Recognize issues that prevent the completion of accurate charging and identify when documentation relevant to the coding and charging process is missing, lacks specificity or is inconsistent. Take steps to obtain the documentation utilizing queries when necessary.
Apply charging hierarchy methodology for medication administration and emergency room procedure charging/supplies.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma - Required
Associate's Degree - Preferred
4 Years Emergency Room Coding/Charging, Revenue Cycle, or Billing Experience - Required, OR
4 Years Emergency Room Clinical Experience - Required, OR
CCS, RHIT, or RHIA – Required with no experience
