                          8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (Monday – Friday)

           *A flexible work schedule may be approved with up to one remote day work per week, contingent upon departmental needs and supervisor approval.

Salary Range:  Hourly from $25.29 to $36.71; Annually from $52,806 to $76,650

*Salary placement is dependent on education and experience

THE POSITION AND THE DEPARTMENT

This position will serve as a primary staff member responsible for planning and implementing a comprehensive programmatic calendar that engages a diverse student body. They will serve as the advisor and supervisor to the Normandale Program Board and Student Senate, as well as other clubs as needed. They will support assigned student clubs with event logistics and purchasing needs, serving as a key resource for students. This position will have a direct impact on creating a welcoming and well-rounded experience for students resulting in increased retention, including planning Welcome Week and other engagement activities. They will also provide supervision of the Zone (Student Life area), supervise assigned student workers, and monitor appropriate budgets. In addition, they will serve as the department lead for student leader training – facilitating workshops and training sessions, and supporting the Pillars of Leadership program throughout the academic year.

This position will actively advance the college’s strategic goals, including to achieve equity in educational outcomes and to support a culturally responsive and service-oriented culture, through individual and departmental efforts.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

Essential:

  • 2 years of experience in higher education, including graduate assistantships. A Bachelor’s degree can be substituted for 12 months experience; An Associate’s can substitute for 6 months experience

  • Demonstrated ability to think critically, problem solve, and multitask

  • Demonstrated ability to use judgement in situations involving confidentiality or crisis situations

  • Experience working with underrepresented populations providing culturally responsive support to students of color, first-generation students, and Pell eligible students

  • Demonstrated knowledge of racial equity and intercultural competence

  • Experience planning events and educational programs for a diverse student body

  • Knowledge and experience in applying student development theory in working with student populations

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Student Personnel, Counseling, Higher Education, or other related field

  • 1-2 years in Student Life, Student Affairs, Residential Life, or Academic Affairs program development

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to lead multiple projects at once

  • Experience serving as a coordinator for student programming

  • Experience supervising and onboarding student employees

  • Demonstrated experience with budget management

  • Fluency in Somali, Arabic or Spanish

  • On-going professional development in intercultural competence and equity

  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours as needed

  • Demonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities and projects and prioritize as needed
