The Emerson Test & Measurement Transportation Business Unit Systems R&D team has an opening for a Lead SW Engineer who leads the design and development of high quality, complex, integrated platforms that automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers use to create innovative new vehicle architectures. In this role, you will own the full life cycle of systems development from concept to release, providing technical leadership to the development team and execution excellence on all initiatives.

- Responsible for all technical deliverables for the given platform development project
- Manage the specification, requirements, design, development, test and system release process using the team’s engineering methodology and development guidelines in an agile environment
- Lead and give direction to the development team in the creation of custom integrated systems
- Own and implement individual technical deliverables
- Guide technical decisions to deliver a quality product in a timely fashion and manage critical issues to achieve resolution
- Interact with customers, internal collaborators, and partners in support of designing and developing new systems and features
- Identify customer and industry needs and provide ideas for new systems and features
- Review work quality and provide mentorship to junior engineers
For This Role, You Will Need:
- BS degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in software and systems development (LabVIEW, C#, C++, FPGA)
- Understanding of transportation industry, ADAS, HIL (Hardware in the Loop) systems, vehicle bus architectures
- Experience in Agile methodologies and using Azure DevOps
- Tech-lead experience, work efficiently with teams
- Detailed understanding of design principles
- Ability to identify and solve systems engineering problems and technical issues
- Strong understanding of systems design, development and testing principles
- Strong sense of ownership, accountability and sense of urgency
Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:
- Demonstrated experience in development of integrated hardware and software projects
- Experience with NI products, including LabVIEW, VeriStand and TestStand, LV FPGA
- English Language competency and effective oral and written communication skills
- Quickly learn applicable technology, systems, and products
- Willing and able to travel up to 10% of the time
