Job Description
Are you passionate about sustainability and the chance to lead the sustainability agenda for a renewable energy leader? Then this could be the right role for you.
We are looking for a person to take responsibility for sustainability at group level in Statkraft. You would come into the role at a time of exciting change. We are transforming the management of sustainability across the company, updating our strategy, and rolling out new ways of working, to deliver on high internal ambitions and external expectations.
This role will be uniquely positioned to help shape the agenda for how sustainability is managed across the company into the future. We see sustainability as a key enabler for Statkraft's license to operate. We're good, but we want to be better. When it comes to sustainability our approach is to be proactive and ensure that we deliver on our targets, as sustainability is pivotal to our commercial success.
You will be challenged by and collaborate with colleagues across the whole company, working on a range of sustainability topics material to Statkraft. You will have a sizeable team of sustainability professionals reporting to you, and you will report to the SVP Sustainability, Governance, and Compliance.
Your Role
As VP Group Sustainability, you will be responsible for the Sustainability unit and the following areas of activity:
Strategic shaping of the sustainability agenda
- Lead the work to update and implement strategy and targets on sustainability at group level.
- Provide regular advice and reporting to senior management and the Board on sustainability.
- Oversee all aspects of Statkraft’s sustainability agenda and be a key influencer, both externally and internally.
Effective management processes
- Ensure that the management system for sustainability is fit for purpose, to deliver on internal targets and external requirements, to embed sustainability into the way we do business.
- Actively collaborate with corporate functions and all business areas to ensure effective implementation of the management system.
Communicating our sustainability agenda
- Collaborate closely with the CFO area on the design and implementation of sustainability reporting and disclosures in line with new requirements, as part of overall company reporting.
- Ensure transparent and effective communication on Statkraft’s sustainability performance to external stakeholders, including collaboration with Treasury on green financing.
- Position Statkraft's sustainability strengths and ambitions externally and internally.
Learning, innovation, and collaboration
- Ensure active lesson sharing, innovation, and collaboration across the company, including the internal sustainability community and partners in business areas, and with peers.
- Collaborate with key external stakeholders such as trade bodies and associations to drive improved performance on sustainability in the sector.
- Provide support to the business areas as needed on concrete topics, initiatives, and cases.
- Contribute to strengthening sustainability capabilities at group level and in countries.
Qualifications
Experience / knowledge
- Broad experience in the sustainability field combined with strong management experience and commercial know-how.
- Experience of positioning sustainability within a commercial setting and with a range of audiences (government, investors, finance, business teams, etc.).
- Experience of implementing effective systems/processes for managing sustainability in international organisations.
- Knowledge of key environmental, social, and human rights guidelines (i.e. IFC, UN, OECD).
- Experience of managing sustainability in complex supply chains and infrastructure projects (preferably within the energy sector) would be valuable.
- High proficiency in English. Other linguistic skills, incl. Scandinavian languages are an advantage.
