About the role

Job Description Summary

The In-Room Dinning Server (IRD) serves meals to guests in their room. He/she is responsible for consistently delivering results that contribute to the mission and overall success of the hotel by accomplishing performance objectives covering the food service venues of the hotel. The IRD sets-up, services, and breaks-down the Room Service area ensuring a high level of quality, consistency and service.

Job Description

Position Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have previous food and beverage experience; serving experience preferred.
  • TABC and ServSafe certification(s).
  • Must have a flexible schedule and be willing to work holidays.
  • Ability to stand during entire shift.
  • Ability to communicate in English.
  • Ability to complete basic mathematical calculations.
  • Must be able to up to 30lbs.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare all IRD orders as per departmental guidelines
  • Deliver all IRD orders using Sonesta Brand Standards and Property guidelines
  • Deliver VIP guest amenities as per departmental guidelines
  • More and/or remove VIP guest amenities as needed
  • Perform mise en place and prepare IRD area for the next shift using the departmental guidelines and checklists.
  • Maintain a list of deliveries and retrieve/remove trays and carts from those rooms to which orders were delivered.
  • Perform a sweep of all guest room floors and elevator landings to ensure all are clear of IRD related items.
  • Perform basic cleaning tasks to keep work area clean at all times, including mopping the IRD area floor once every shift.
  • Perform a daily inventory of available operating equipment and consumables and re-stock as needed to maintain departmental parr levels.
  • Notify the Food and Beverage Management team in due time of any and all items that are missing and/or needed to be replaced/purchased.
  • Assist in other Food and Beverage outlets as/when needed
  • Check printer paper daily to ensure the printer is never without paper
  • Ensure daily that all perishable food and beverage items are stored properly and well within the advertised expiration date.
  • Keep an eye on the kitchen “window” and assist other Food and Beverage outlets by delivering/transporting food times to the destination when time permits.
  • Assist in covering meal breaks in Launch as needed.
