Anesthesia Technician

Overview

Accountable to provide and perform preparation and post procedure clean-up duties in anesthetizing locations throughout the hospital. Provides support services for nurse anesthetists to care for neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.

Responsibilities

Demonstrates knowledge of all anesthesia equipment; including anesthesia delivery machines and physiologic monitors. Maintains all equipment to ensure operational readiness. Effectively trouble shoots equipment issues. Effectively cleans anesthesia equipment in compliance with Infection Control policies.--------------------------------------------------Facilitates patient throughput with efficient OR turnover of anesthesia supplies and equipment between surgical procedures, and OR decontamination in compliance with Infection Control policies.--------------------------------------------------Maintains inventory control of anesthesia-related pharmaceuticals, supplies, and equipment. Stocking Anesthesia Workroom, Operating Rooms, as well as specialty carts, in accordance with acceptable standards and safe practice.--------------------------------------------------Provides technical support to Anesthesia Professional staff- physician and nursing through; Preparation of invasive lines using aseptic technique, Technical assistance with the insertion of invasive monitoring. Technical assistance with emergency airway procedures. Emergency procedure set-up; including open heart and trauma. Transport assistance for critical patients.--------------------------------------------------

Qualifications

EDUCATION:High School Diploma or equivalent, Required EXPERIENCE:1 year of patient/heatlh experience, Required LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:REQUIREDBLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider PREFERREDPreferred: American Society of Anesthesia Technologist and Technicians ASATT
