As an Equipment Engineer at Micron Technology in Manassas, VA (MTV), you will have ownership for 300mm equipment in a high-tech manufacturing line. Typical duties include utilizing available automation systems to achieve high volume manufacturing, supporting new tool installations, optimizing process and tool operating conditions, minimizing human and machine induced errors, implementing statistical process control systems, and innovating other engineering solutions to eliminate risk and improve sensitivity of measurements.

You will work with other engineering areas to resolve various integration and defect related issues, lead actions outside areas of direct responsibility as the need arises to resolve broader issues, lead interaction with vendor groups to drive support, improvement and demonstration activities, and develop process and procedural improvements, as well as provide detailed documentation and training to shift personnel as the need arises. You will also identify opportunities for productivity enhancements and equipment optimization to improve product quality and reduce system cost of ownership. All work will be done in accordance with Micron’s core values.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Have two or less years of fulltime work experience
  • Possesses a BS or MS degree in mechanical engineering or related field
  • Have strong understanding and hands on experience with CVD equipment, which may include LAM/Novellus, AMAT Producer, AMAT Centura, and TEL Trias.
  • Detail oriented and data driven in order to supervise equipment performance, develop Pareto analysis of tool issues and lead vendor support through detailed continuous improvement project (CIP) commitments.
  • Possess sound methodology for coordinating work, setting priorities and building a work plan.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; tight-knit collaboration skills to help encourage good partnership among colleagues and vendor counterparts.
  • Have sound problem solving skills and proficiency to work on equipment related issues.
  • Must have deep understanding of the facilities systems which support the tools, including hazardous production material (HPM), gas valve manifold boxes (VMBs), pumps and scrubbers, etc.
  • Be able to lead efforts to reduce costs in the area, and will need to demonstrate initiative, innovation and perseverance in setting up a cost reduction strategy through vendor or second-source CIP activities, redesigns, procedure modifications, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of semiconductor equipment.
  • Understanding of semiconductor-specific safety procedures.
  • Hands-on experience with semiconductor toolsets.
  • Experience working in a cleanroom environment.
