Job Summary:

The Human Resources Manager develops and administers policies relating to all phases of human resources activities, procedures, and programs. The HR Manager carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: Employee Relations, Recruitment, Compensation, and Performance Management.

 

What you have 

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent in Human Resources, Business or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • 5+ years of human resource management experience with increasing responsibility required. 

  • Hospitality or hotel HR experience strongly preferred 

  • Previous experience in HR concentration areas such as benefits; compensation; workforce planning and employment; employee relations; safety and security; strategic management; employee development; and training.

  • Previous hotel and/or office administrative experience required.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Basic competence in duties and tasks of supervised employees.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds. This includes having the ability to influence management when appropriate.

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

  • Strong business acumen.

  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to prepare reports and company-wide business correspondence.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs a must, Marriott systems a plus

  • PHR or SHRM-CP preferred but not required.

  • Bilingual skills a plus.

What you'll do 

  • Manage the staffing process, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, training, hearing and resolving employee grievances, counseling employees and supervisors, conducting exit interviews. 

  • Ensure associates are cross trained to support successful daily operations. 

  • Lead and facilitate new hire orientation, to generate a positive first impression for employees and emphasize the importance of guest service in company culture. Ensure attendance by all new hires and participation of the leadership team. 

  • Lead and facilitate Service Excellence training for the properties and possibly regional properties. 

  • Maintain a keen understanding of training trends, developments, and roll out best practices. 

  • Oversee performance management process to improve individual and ensures team performance is in line with organizational objectives. 

  • Maintain effective associate communication channels in the property (e.g., develops daily communications and assists with regularly scheduled property-wide meetings).
