The J. Crayton Pruitt Family Department of Biomedical Engineering in The Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering at the University of Florida seeks to hire a twelve-month, full-time, non-tenure track faculty to teach undergraduate and graduate students in core Biomedical Engineering courses.

The J. Crayton Pruitt Family Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) has experienced rapid transformation and growth over the past ten years. The Department has strengths in the areas of biomaterials and regenerative medicine, biomedical data science, imaging diagnostics and therapeutics, and neural engineering. BME faculty benefit from close collaborations with the College of Medicine, College of Veterinary Medicine, and the College of Liberal Arts and Life Sciences adjacent to our building. Faculty and students in BME also interact with clinicians at the Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center, located south of campus. The J. Crayton Pruitt Family Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Florida seeks instructional faculty members to contribute to our rapidly growing and evolving undergraduate (ABET accredited) and graduate programs through excellence, innovation, and leadership in engineering education. This 12-month, non-tenure track, full-time position is at the rank of either Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, or Master Lecturer with working titles of Instructional Assistant Professor, Instructional Associate Professor, or Instructional Full Professor  

The faculty member will instruct selected biomedical engineering courses, engage in service, and explore research initiatives associated with engineering education. Preference will be given to candidates whose expertise and/or teaching abilities fit the current needs of the department. Our highest priority are lab-based instruction in cell culture, tissue engineering, biomaterials, and microscopy. Other core biomedical engineering courses are of interest, including BME fundamentals, thermodynamics, transport, biomaterials, or molecular biomedical engineering. Experience in other areas, such as biomedical instrumentation, engineering design, and programming are a plus. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the next generation of biomedical engineers by participating in curriculum development and maintaining ABET accreditation, engaging in innovative teaching methods, and collaborating across the campus on impactful educational research. Successful submission and funding of engineering education grants will be encouraged. The faculty member will fully participate in department, university, and professional service activities, which are recognized and celebrated with clear promotion tracks available for non-tenure instructional ranks.
