Your role:

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining  effective and efficient risk management approaches in accordance with our Operational Risk Management framework. The primary area of focus is Prudential’s Chief Investment Office. This position requires business and financial aptitude, resourcefulness, good judgment, persistence, the ability to influence others, and strong leadership qualities.

What you can expect:

  • Be a trusted advisor on risk issues, ensuring operational risks are properly identified, assessed, monitored, controlled, and reported.
  • Promote, build, and maintain a strong risk management culture and control environment through strong engagement and relationship building with senior management.
  • Resolve challenging, sensitive, and/or urgent risk issues.
  • Offer operational risk support and advice to business partners, including facilitating assessments of strategic initiatives/transactions and ensuring appropriate controls are implemented.
  • Apply sound judgment in the evaluation of risks and controls, effectively challenging management decisions to ensure risk mitigation.
  • Advise on the development and implementation of action plans to address control gaps.
  • Proactively partner with Risk Management counterparts to identify enterprise-wide implications and effective methods to evaluate control effectiveness.
  • Assist senior leaders with the preparation of materials for Operational Risk Committees, including leading and facilitating discussions at committee meetings.
  • Serve as a liaison between business management, and other control partners, providing support and effective challenges, and working with Internal Audit to track issues and action plans until closure.

What you’ll need:

  • Superior relationship management skills with the ability to partner and build professional relationships in a cross-functional environment.
  • Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality outputs.
  • Proactive, driven professionals who can operate effectively from the conceptual stage through to successful implementation.
  • Clear and effective writing skills.
  • Experience in risk management, audit, or similar business control.
  • Familiarity with financial risks, including credit, market, and insurance risk is a plus.
  • Strong influencing skills to achieve objectives.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills.
  • Sound judgment in determining when to escalate risk issues.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to work effectively with a diverse portfolio of people, processes, and functions.
  • Business and financial literacy.
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CFA, etc.) are a plus.
