CPIhealth is seeking a self-motivated, service-minded, and confident per diem Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist to join our team. 

The CRNA works in collaboration with physicians and medical professionals at our Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) to administer intravenous, MAC (monitored anesthesia care) and general anesthesia prior to invasive procedures and/or surgical cases.

Core privileges include anesthetic management before, during and after a medical procedure or surgery by performing a patient assessment, preparing the patient for anesthesia, administering and maintaining the anesthesia to ensure proper sedation and pain management, overseeing patient recovery from anesthesia and caring for the patient's immediate post-operative needs.

The CRNA is authorized and therefore skilled in delivering comprehensive pain management and anesthesia care to patients. All the accepted anesthetic techniques and modalities including epidural, spinal, peripheral nerve block, intravenous sedation, or local administration of anesthetic agents are within the scope of practice.

Scope of Practice

Administration of anesthesia is performed under the delegation/order of the operating physician and in accordance with Texas Administrative code 193.13 (a) In a licensed hospital or ambulatory surgical center a physician may delegate to a certified registered nurse anesthetist the ordering of drugs and devices necessary for a certified registered nurse anesthetist to administer an anesthetic or an anesthesia-related service ordered by the physician, written policies and protocols developed and approved by the Credentials Committee, the Medical Staff Executive Committee, Nursing Administration, and the Governing Body.

Responsibilities

Pre-Operative Care

• Performing and documenting a pre-anesthetic assessment and evaluation of the patient, including requesting consultations and diagnostic studies; selecting, obtaining, ordering, or administering pre-anesthetic medication and fluids; and obtaining informed consent for anesthesia.
• Checking the readiness, availability, cleanliness, sterility (when required) and working conditions of all the equipment used in the administration of anesthetic agents prior to administering anesthesia.
• Developing and implementing a safe, anesthetic plan.
• Selecting and administering the planned anesthetic technique which may include but not limited to: general, regional, peripheral nerve blocks, local infiltration, and intravenous sedation.

Intra-Operative Care 

• Selecting, obtaining, or administering the anesthetics, adjuvant drugs, accessory drugs, and fluids necessary to manage the anesthetic, to maintain the patient’s physiologic homeostasis, and to correct abnormal responses to the anesthesia or surgery.
• Selecting, applying, or inserting appropriate non-invasive and invasive monitoring modalities for collecting and interpreting patient physiological data utilizing current standards and techniques.
• Recommend or request and evaluate pertinent diagnostic studies.
• Managing and performing all aspects of airway management and pulmonary status using endotracheal intubation, mechanical ventilation, pharmacological support, respiratory therapy, or extubation.
• Recognize abnormal patient response during anesthesia, selecting and implementing corrective action and requesting consultation whenever necessary.
• Managing emergence and recovery from anesthesia by selecting, obtaining, ordering, or administering medications, fluids, or ventilatory support in order to maintain homeostasis, to provide relief from pain and anesthesia side effects, or to prevent or manage complications.
• Evaluate patient response during emergency from anesthesia and institute pharmacological or supportive treatment to insure patient stability during transfer of care.
• Releasing or discharging patients from a post-anesthesia care area and providing post-anesthesia follow-up evaluation and
