Job Purpose

As a Great Minds Senior Data Engineer you will be the primary technologist of the enterprise data platform. The role will focus on designing and building data models, data structures, and data pipelines. The role will also participate in analyzing and selecting appropriate tools for ELT processes and data warehousing. The Senior Data Engineer will work with the larger data team to help build the data platform and heavily collaborate with the data analyst to understand the company’s data and existing systems and processes.

Responsibilities

• Set up data ingestion and transformation pipelines; work with consulting partner to build them
• Design and build data models and structures for analytics purposes; work with consulting partner and other team members to build them
• Ingesting priority data into the data warehouse/data lake and prepping the data for analysis
• Identify and improve processes to meet efficiency and scalability needs 
• Participate in tool selection with the focus on the following areas: Ingestion, Data Lake, Data Governance, Data Catalog

Requirements

• 4 or more years of experience with data collection, ingestion, and ETL/ELT processes
• 4 or more years of experience with building data warehouses or data lakes
• Strong Data Analysis skills to understand how the raw data is set up and what the desired outcomes are
• 2 or more years of experience with AWS systems
• 4 or more years of experience writing complex queries using SQL, PostgreSQL
• 3 or more years of experience with programming languages such as Python
• Familiarity with data visualization tools and understanding how to best model data for such tools
• Bachelor's degree

Location: Washington, DC, or remote in the Eastern or Central time zones preferred
