You will help develop and execute a long-term reliability vision that improves customer experiences, reduces recurring issues, and supports business success.

You will partner with stakeholders across the organization to translate customer feedback, field performance, and product priorities into meaningful actions and measurable outcomes.

What "Architecting the Reliability Strategy" Means in This Role

In this role, architecting the reliability strategy means:

  • Identifying where reliability has the greatest impact today and in the future
  • Establishing clear priorities, focus areas, and decision-making frameworks
  • Ensuring reliability decisions reflect customer outcomes and real-world system performance
  • Creating the alignment, governance, and structure needed to successfully execute the strategy

This is not a deeply hands-on reliability analysis position. Success is measured through the ability to create clarity, align stakeholders, enable execution, and deliver meaningful business and customer outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Reliability Strategy & Roadmapping

  • Define and maintain a long-term reliability strategy and roadmap aligned with product, platform, and business priorities.
  • Identify systemic and structural reliability risks across software, hardware, and integrated systems.
  • Translate reliability strategy into clear, actionable multi-year priorities that guide program and platform decisions.
  • Balance immediate program needs with long-term product health, reliability improvements, and sustainable engineering practices.

Integration Across Software, Hardware, and Systems

  • Serve as a central point of coordination for reliability across engineering disciplines.
  • Ensure assumptions, interfaces, and responsibilities between software, hardware, and systems teams are aligned and clearly understood.
  • Identify and help resolve gaps where reliability risks may fall between teams or lifecycle phases.
  • Champion a systems-level approach to reliability that supports shared success across functions.

Driving Execution & Accountability

  • Ensure reliability activities are appropriately planned, prioritized, resourced, tracked, and supported across programs and sustaining efforts.
  • Establish governance processes that promote effective decision-making, ownership, and follow-through.
  • Help teams stay aligned on reliability commitments while enabling progress through clarity, collaboration, and shared understanding.
  • Elevate risks and execution challenges with clear recommendations and context around potential impact.

Customer Impact & Decision-Making

  • Build a strong understanding of customer workflows, environments, and expectations.
  • Translate field data, service feedback, complaints, and warranty trends into prioritized reliability initiatives.
  • Communicate reliability risks and tradeoffs in terms of customer impact, uptime, safety, and business outcomes.
  • Help ensure key decisions remain grounded in customer needs and experiences.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Partner closely with engineering, quality, systems, manufacturing, service, and program leadership teams.
  • Influence and align stakeholders through collaboration and shared goals, regardless of reporting structure.
  • Communicate reliability strategy, priorities, risks, and progress to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Support consistent and effective reliability execution across programs and platforms.

Required Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 8+ years of experience in engineering, systems, quality, technical program leadership, or closely related roles.
  • Experience working across software, hardware, and integrated systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives and build alignment among diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong systems-thinking skills and the ability to connect technical decisions to customer and business outcomes.
  • Experience developing and executing long-term strategies in addition to supporting day-to-day execution.
