The Marketing Technology Solution Architect owns solution architecture direction for the capabilities that attract, inform, engage, and serve customers. The role translates business and customer-experience goals into target-state architectures, investment roadmaps, and practical design decisions aligned with enterprise standards.
The architect designs cohesive solutions across digital experience and content, customer identity and profile, consent and preferences, campaign and journey orchestration, messaging channels, personalization, analytics, and measurement. The role emphasizes architecture strategy, end-to-end solution design that assure scalability, security, resiliency and durability.
The ideal candidate has practical Amazon Web Services (AWS) architecture skills with experience applying cloud technology to marketing and communications use cases, like real-time customer signals, audience decisioning, recommendations or next-best actions, dynamic content, journey activation, and closed-loop measurement.
What you will do:
- Translate business outcomes into capability maps, current- and target-state architectures, transition states, and delivery increments.
- Design end-to-end architectures spanning websites and mobile experiences, content management, CRM and campaign platforms, customer data and identity, consent and preferences, journey orchestration, messaging channels, personalization, analytics, and enterprise systems.
- Establish clear domain, data, event, and API boundaries that support reusable customer profiles, segmentation, decisioning, activation, attribution, and measurement while protecting privacy and consent.
- Create and maintain architecture artifacts such as capability maps, context and container diagrams, data flows, sequence diagrams, nonfunctional requirements, architecture decision records, and option assessments.
- Ensure solutions address security, privacy, accessibility, observability, resiliency, disaster recovery, performance, and operational supportability.
- Lead architecture from discovery through implementation by facilitating design reviews, resolving cross-team decisions, identifying architectural risks, and providing guardrails to delivery teams without becoming the day-to-day system operator.
- Evaluate platforms, vendor capabilities, integration approaches, and buy-versus-build options, contribute to architecture governance, and mentor engineers and architects in sound design practices.
What you will bring:
- 7+ years designing and delivering enterprise digital, data, or customer-facing technology solutions, including 3+ years leading solution architecture or equivalent architecture decision ownership.
- Demonstrated experience taking an ambiguous business objective through target-state design and production delivery. Candidates should be able to explain the business goal, architecture choices, constraints, personal contribution, and measurable outcome of at least one example.
- Production Amazon Web Services (AWS) architecture experience using a relevant subset of services such as Lambda or containers, API Gateway, EventBridge, SQS/SNS, MSK or Kinesis, Step Functions, S3, DynamoDB or relational databases, CloudFront, IAM/KMS, and CloudWatch. Depth and sound tradeoffs matter more than matching every service.
- Strong distributed-systems and data-architecture fundamentals, including APIs, asynchronous messaging, event streaming, idempotency, retry and replay, data modeling, identity, privacy and consent controls, and observability.
- Working knowledge of marketing and communications concepts such as customer journeys, segmentation, campaign activation, personalization, content delivery, event instrumentation, consent and preference management, and performance measurement.
- Ability to produce clear architecture artifacts and communicate options, risks, and tradeoffs to both business and engineering stakeholders while leading through influence.
