Underwriter Marine – Cargo & Transport Liabilities

We are looking for a dedicated and business-oriented underwriter for our Nordic Marine underwriting team. This is a key underwriting role where you will be driving underwriting excellence and collaboration locally in Sweden and across the Nordics. 

About the role

In this role, you will work with providing If Commercial’s cargo and transport liability customers with individual risk assessments and tailor-made insurance solutions. You will combine analytical ability, legal understanding and strong business acumen to offer the best insurance at the right price. You will take on a big responsibility for managing and developing your own customer portfolio. In addition you will support our sales colleagues in their work and participate in key client meetings, meaning expectations are high and your communication skills are put to the test.

Within Marine, we operate three distinct lines of business: 

• Cargo and Transport Liabilities – insuring goods in transit and transporters’ and freight forwarders’ liability 

• Coastal Hull – covering vessels up to 10,000 GT under Nordic flag or ownership 

• Fish Farming – insuring land- and sea-based aquaculture operations 

The Cargo & Transport underwriting team consists of 7 colleagues across the Nordic region, two of which are located in Sweden.

Who are you:

• You possess strong analytical skills, with an eye for both detail and the broader perspective.

• You are interested and capable of clearly explaining your conclusions and results.

• You enjoy working both independently and collaboratively.

• You are reliable, helpful, and unafraid to take initiative.

• You speak and write fluent Swedish and English.

You also have:

• A solid understanding of underwriting and risk-based pricing 

• Past underwriting experience, preferably from cargo and transport underwriting 

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
