Job Description
The Middle East and Central Asia Department (MCD), Division B, is looking for an economist/senior economist for Jordan. The country entered a four-year EFF in January 2024, and three reviews have been successfully completed. In addition, a 30-month RSF was approved in June 2025. The selected candidate should have the ability to coordinate the work across sectors, draft program-relevant documents, and contribute to the team’s analytical agenda. While his/her particular focus would be on fiscal sector issues—in collaboration with an FAD economist—and RSF monitoring, he/she will coordinate and be involved in all aspects of economic analysis, program monitoring and design. In this respect, he/she is expected to coordinate the preparation and drafting of notes, policy briefs, and Board papers. Finally, the selected candidate could also contribute to the analytical work of the department, including conducting research and reviewing and commenting on departmental and Fund papers. Division B covers the following countries: Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and West Bank & Gaza.
Candidates interested in the position can reach out to Mr. Cesar Serra, Mission Chief for Jordan.
Qualifications
In addition to the qualifications set forth as per below job standards, candidates should have strong analytical and empirical skills, including policy-oriented analytical credentials, strong familiarity with fiscal and debt issues, sound data management, and excellent written and oral communication skills. The selected candidate should be proactive with a strong drive for results, possess strong interpersonal and work organization skills, and have familiarity with Fund policies and practices. Past program experience would be important. The candidate should possess excellent teamwork skills, experience in coordinating operational and/or analytical work, and the ability to manage time well while working under very tight deadlines.
