Thematic Research Center Integrative Sciences (IS) has an external focus within the Research division at BMS. The IS group has three principal responsibilities: (i) creating Discovery Stage collaborations within the Biotech Ecosystem, (ii) facilitating conversion of academic concepts to industry workable ideas via incubator constructs, and (iii) supporting BMS scientists’ collaborations with academic investigators.

Team Overview: 

The Research Alliance Development team within the Integrative Sciences department has an exciting opportunity to join the Global Research organization at BMS. Our mission is to accelerate pre-clinical alliances and collaborations, through alignment of external research agendas with our corporate objectives. By partnering with leading scientists and clinicians worldwide, we support BMS discovery and development teams, enabling collaborations with academic and non-profit research institutes globally. 

Additionally, Research Alliance Development supports and collaborates with various internal functions, including Drug Discovery, Translational Development, Clinical Research and Medical Affairs, Commercial, Legal, Project Leadership, Business Development, and Corporate Alliance Management. 

Summary: 

The Specialist will support the Research Alliance Development group through daily operational efforts (including project management, financial operations, database maintenance, and records collection and retention) that are critical to the development and management of academic licenses and research alliances. Your contributions will support the execution of our collaborative efforts to advance drug discovery and translational medicine. 

Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to): 

  • Data Management: Maintain and update databases to ensure accurate and efficient team operations through administrative and data entry support. Ensure workflow integrity and accuracy and completeness of data. 

  • Contract Support: Provide administrative support for contract management, such as assisting with contract drafting, filing and version control. 

  • Communication: Act as a liaison with internal and external stakeholders, collecting and maintaining records and documentation. Triage incoming requests and queries to appropriate team members and/or internal BMS stakeholders. 

  • Financial Operations: Liaise with external parties and internal stakeholders for vendor creation and PO generation, track and validate financial milestones and invoices, troubleshoot payment issues 

  • Reporting: Prepare reports on alliance status and obligations to inform internal and external stakeholders and senior management. 

  • Training Development: Assist in the creation of training materials pertaining to collaborations and operational best practices. 

  • Process Improvement: Collaborate with management and department to support continuous improvement initiatives. 

Qualifications: 

  • B.Sc. (completed or in progress) or equivalent experience with at least 2 years of industry or relevant experience in a highly matrixed environment. 

  • Experience with document management and legal terminology; project management skills are a plus. 

  • Ability to work independently and escalate issues as necessary 

  • Strong communication skills, respecting confidentiality across all interactions.
