Help get better trained personnel to the front line faster – This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced professional to make a lasting impact by mentoring the next generation of Royal Navy engineers—leveraging your career expertise without the need for prior teaching experience!<br/><br/>Project Selborne is a Transformational Training programme with a strategic goal of modernising Royal Navy training to deliver “better trained sailors to the front line faster”.<br/><br/>Your role will be to provide support to the delivery of training across <span>Coppersmith/Pipefitter</span> skills area within Skill of Hand Training group.<p></p><p></p><p><b>Job title:</b></p><span>Coppersmith/Pipefitter</span> Trainer<p></p><p></p><p><b>Job Description:</b></p><p>🕒 Full-time role, 37.5 hours a week on a term time only basis<br/>📍 HMS Sultan, Portsmouth</p><p>🔐 Due to the nature of this role, you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance at SC level.</p><p></p><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><p><b><u>What you’ll be doing</u></b></p><p></p><ul><li><p>Provide training on how to fit pipework on ships from a drawing (Fit from design)</p></li><li><p>Teaching Brazing techniques</p></li><li><p>Maintain strong working relationships with customers and colleagues within the Marine Engineering Electrical training area.</p></li><li><p>Support trainee development through assessment, feedback, and personalised learning approaches.</p></li><li><p>Maintain and update training materials, and contribute to modernising and improving training delivery.</p></li><li><p>Ensure compliance with KPIs, SLAs, and safety standards, while maintaining a CPD portfolio.</p></li></ul><p></p><p></p><p><b><u>What we’re looking for</u></b></p><p></p><p><b>Essential <span>Skills/Experience/Qualifications</span></b></p><ul><li><p>Minimum Level 3 Technical Certificate in an Engineering discipline</p></li><li><p>Be proficient in the use of IT (hardware/software) within the workplace</p></li><li><p>Competent practical <span>Coppersmith/Pipefitter</span> hand skills</p></li><li><p>Proven experience in workshop/industry principles</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Desirable <span>Skills/Experience/Qualifications</span></b></p><ul><li><p>Level 4 Teaching Qualification / DCTS Defence Train The Trainer Course or equivalent (successful completion)</p></li><li><p>Previous instructional experience in a military or civilian engineering environment</p></li></ul></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><p><b>About Selborne</b></p><p>Selborne is a bold, £1 billion, 12-year transformation of Royal Navy training, led by Capita and a powerhouse consortium known as Team Fisher — including Raytheon UK, Fujitsu, and the University of Lincoln.
