About the role

Description

Assists commercial lenders in managing member business relationships including loans, deposits and other related services. Initiates the generation of documentation for both complex and non-complex business loans and ensures that such loans comply with all applicable rules and regulations. Strengthens existing business member relationships through product/service referrals and problem identification and resolution.


Job Duties:

  • Initiate complex loan request process; obtain applicant data and all pertinent codes and input into loan software system. Order title policies, appraisals, UCC reports and other documents needed to originate business loans. Confirm that insurance and titles are received and maintained, and that all documentation is complete.
  • In the Business Loan Support Lead’s absence, perform pre-closing and post-closing reviews of all approved business loans. Review complex loan origination and closing documents to verify accuracy of loan payments and loan values, and to ensure that the loans comply with SLFCU guidelines. Close non-complex loans.
  • Set up and maintain business loan files for documentation and compliance, title work and UCC filings.
  • Ensure all audit and security policies and procedures are followed in accordance with Credit Union policy and federal regulations.
  • Effectively coordinate efforts with other Credit Union resources to ensure quality and timely member service.
  • Handle various transactions on business member accounts, including the audit and verification of account information input into system, processing business loan payments/advances, and calculating loan payoff amounts. Use sales skills and tools to analyze and determine member needs with the intent of enhancing member retention and exploring additional sales opportunities. Recommend appropriate solutions (both consumer and business) in person and on the phone.
  • Assist in the commercial appraisal bid and engagement process.
  • Responsible for on the job training (OJT) for new Business Loan Support Specialists 1 & 2
  • Process approved business credit card applications.
  • Process denied and withdrawn business loan applications.
  • Provide a superior member experience by actively listening to and assessing the needs of the member, identifying and recommending solutions, and referring members to the appropriate person or department.
  • Assist the business lending team in identifying and resolving issues pertaining to business accounts and loans. Conduct account research as needed. Work with Accounting to clear general ledger accounts.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the complete line of products and services offered by the Credit Union, including up-to-date knowledge of business loan policies and procedures. Promote services and product lines as appropriate.
  • May pull, create and distribute routine (to include month end) reports for management and applicable branches or departments and take action as needed.
  • Compile both routine and atypical correspondence as needed.
  • Assist in business development/calling efforts as requested by the commercial lenders.

  • Closed loan audits.

Requirements

Experience and Knowledge:

  • Minimum two years’ experience working specifically with business deposits and lending, including servicing and processing of non-complex business loans.
  • Possesses prior knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations and other lending practices.
  • Minimum two years experience working in a financial institution as a financial services representative, personal/commercial banker, or related area.
  • Solid understanding and knowledge of business lending practices, loan documentation and loan servicing requirements, with demonstrated ability to apply that understanding to work produced.
  • Demonstrated experience with UCC filings and construction loans.
  • Thorough knowledge of Credit Union products and services, features, and benefits.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications and able to learn new software quickly and effectively.

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Successful completion of on-the-job training, or equivalent experience in complex business loan documentation.

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Possesses excellent interpersonal and relationship development skills.
