Job Summary:
Under the general direction of the Assistant Dean, the Administrative Support Coordinator (ASC) provides entire clerical and administrative support functions for the Special Education credential program(s) including assisting with admissions, orientation, student teaching/intern placement, fieldwork supervisor orientation, ongoing communication with students and faculty, and providing support to the faculty program coordinator.
Responsibilities:
Under the lead work direction of the faculty program coordinator, makes independent decisions on day-to-day operations and interprets and applies specialized policies and procedures with accountability for workflow and completion of work.
Handles multiple work unit priorities to support the Special Education credential program by participating at events, scheduling activities, and serving as a point of contact for campus constituents in coordination with the faculty program coordinator.
Assignments will require interaction at the highest levels within and outside the university, often in sensitive interpersonal situations. These interactions may include administrators, students, faculty, Watson College of Education (WCOE) staff, campus offices, and various employees and/or administrators at school district offices.
Monitors the SMS database to track support hours for Special Education credential students, enters information, and generates reports. Work typically involves a broad range of operational and procedural office and administrative problems related to the Special Education credential programs which may at times require research, analysis, and evaluation of information needing to be solved.
Ability to perform standard business math, such as calculating ratios and percentages, track financial data, and make simple projections. Facilitates paperwork with students and district offices to collect required funding, reconcile the program budget, coordinates procurement, travel, and student support payments.
Perform other classification related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or its equivalent
- Five years of progressively responsible experience in general office clerical or secretarial work or the equivalent.
Required Qualifications:
- Comprehensive and detailed knowledge of the university infrastructure, policies, and procedures.
- Thorough mastery of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Expertise in using office software packages, technology, and systems.
- Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures independently, and use judgment and discretion to act when precedents do not exist.
- Ability to troubleshoot most office administration problems and respond to all inquiries and requests related to work area.
- Ability to understand problems from a broader perspective and anticipate the impact of office administration problems and solutions on other areas.
- Ability to analyze operational and procedural problems and develop, recommend, and evaluate proposed solutions.
- Ability to perform business math, analyze budgetary data, and make accurate projections requiring some inference.
- Ability to effectively write and present own reports.
- Ability to effectively handle interpersonal interactions at all levels and handle highly sensitive interpersonal situations.
- Ability to use negotiation and persuasion skills to achieve results and expedite projects.
Compensation and Benefits:
Anticipated Hiring Range: $4,058 - $4,814 per month
Classification Salary Range: $4,058 - $6,652 per month
The salary offered will take into account internal equity and experience among other factors.

Position Information:
Full-time Non-Exempt Probationary
Academic year schedule: Monday through Friday (8:00 am – 5:00 pm), some evenings/weekends.
Summer schedule: Monday through Thursday (7:00 am - 5:30 pm), some evenings/weekends.
