We are seeking a Shopify Engineer to develop the technical backbone of this program—owning integrations, tracking, payout logic, and automation workflows.

You’ll work closely with the CMO and our Marketing and Sales teams to turn business requirements into reality. This is a technical build role with high ownership of outcomes.

Position Summary

As Shopify Engineer – Affiliate Systems & Automation, you will:

• Build and integrate the systems needed to support a scalable, data-driven affiliate program
• Implement accurate affiliate tracking and payout logic
• Create actionable affiliate dashboards and reporting tools
• Support automation workflows tied to affiliate actions and customer experience

You will have the opportunity to design and build key components from scratch where needed and integrate best-in-class tools where appropriate.

All business requirements, reporting needs, and flow logic will be defined by the CMO; your focus will be on implementing the required technical solutions.

Core Responsibilities

Affiliate Program Integration and Development

• Implement affiliate tracking (UTMs, pixels, Shopify API hooks)
• Build or extend payout logic (Shopify API + payment APIs as needed)
• Integrate with affiliate tracking platforms or develop custom tracking solutions
• Build or integrate dashboards and reporting tools based on CMO-defined requirements
• Ensure tracking accuracy and data integrity across the entire affiliate funnel

Automation Support (as capacity allows)

• Implement or support transactional email flows tied to affiliate actions
• Implement basic chatbots or CX automation related to affiliate-driven customers, based on flow logic and content provided by the CMO and Marketing team
• Integrate with tools such as Tidio, Klaviyo, Shopify Email, or custom-built solutions

Collaboration & Process

• Work closely with the CMO to implement business requirements and align technical implementation with program goals
• Coordinate with Marketing and Sales to ensure affiliate systems support broader growth strategy
• Provide technical guidance on platform capabilities and best practices

Requirements

Required Skills & Experience

• 2+ years of Shopify development (themes, apps, APIs)
• Proficiency in JavaScript, Liquid, HTML/CSS, and JSON
• Strong experience with Shopify API (REST/GraphQL)
• Experience building or integrating with affiliate tracking and payout systems
• Solid understanding of UTM tracking, pixel implementation, and attribution modeling
• Experience integrating with payment APIs and/or handling payout logic
• Comfort with data and analytics tools to support reporting and dashboards
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with non-technical stakeholders (CMO, Marketing & Sales)

Bonus Skills (Nice to Have)

• Experience with Shopify Flow, Zapier, or serverless automation
• Familiarity with chatbot platforms (Tidio, Shopify Inbox) and transactional email tools (Klaviyo, Shopify Email)
• Experience building or extending affiliate dashboards (BI tools, custom dashboards)
• Exposure to AI/NLP-powered chatbots or intent-based automation flows
