Your Role:

 

The Certified Maintenance Mechanic - Night Shift role at MilliporeSigma is responsible for performing both preventive and corrective actions to keep the operation functional.  Job duties include:

 

  • Rotational 12 – hour Night Shift: Shift hours: 7:00pm – 7:00am, some holidays and every other weekend
  • Independently perform basic carpentry, electrical, piping, refrigeration, and distillation operations.
  • Identify and troubleshoot related problems with little or no supervision.
  • Thoroughly understands, checks, diagnoses problems, and repairs manufacturing equipment such as tank chiller, alcohol, and acetone pumps, Centrifuges, lyophilization equipment, deionized water system, etc., daily.
  • Keep machinery, equipment, and plant structure in operating condition, including but not limited to chemical processing equipment of all types (i.e., filter presses, agitators, homogenizers, blowers, pumps, freeze dryers, centrifugation equipment, chiller/heating units, scrubber units, etc.)
  • Perform various types of service, troubleshoots and repairs to air compressors and refrigeration compressors (i.e., freeze dryers, chiller systems, etc.), maintain oil level and Freon level, change filters, services and replace controls.
  • Perform plumbing activities including maintaining and installing piping, fittings, valves, gauges, traps, etc., in both manufacturing processing and sanitation.
  • Perform and troubleshoot acetone distillation unit operation.
  • Perform electrical work such as maintaining and installing new light fixtures, wall sockets, hooking up electrical controls, motors, switches, etc. Install conduit and other electrical materials as directed.
  • Routinely check all fuses and replace as required.
  • Perform carpentry work such as building wooden bookcases, shelves, benches, crates, hanging doors, and replacing windows.
  • Perform minor service to the boiler such as replacing gauges, controls, and adding water treatment compounds and troubleshoot boiler for flame failures and steam/condensate leaks.
  • Clean and replace liquid and air filters as needed.
  • Understand and troubleshoot PLC instrumentation loops and control logic (i.e., chiller units, distillation system, EX-CYTE operations - RO system/CIP, BAAP operations, etc.).
  • Complete calibrations and equipment checks on transmitters, actuators, sensors, and other controls.
  • Compliance with all of MilliporeSigma’s Personnel and Safety practices and provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Completion of the Refrigerant Technician Certification within 3 months of start date
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Physical Attributes:

 

  • Involves lifting, relocation, and fitting of compressors, tanks, heat exchangers, etc.
  • May involve frequently charging process tanks with up to 50 lb bags of dry chemical ingredients.
  • Involves accessing and performing tasks in an area 12-36" above floor height.
  • Use safety equipment provided to perform job functions including wearing designated, or appropriately modified, clean room apparel as required to meet operational and compliance requirements.
  • Utilizing visual acuity and color differentiation to effectively interact with the Operator Workstations.

 

Who you are:

 

Minimum Qualifications:
 

  • Current and valid driver’s license.
  • Completion of 30 hours/credits of college-accredited classwork in maintenance areas (e.g., refrigeration, electricity, electronics, technical math, and mechanical courses).
  • Certification as a Certified Control System Technician (CCST) by the Instrumentations Systems and Automation Society (ISA), Certified Industrial Maintenance Mechanic (CIMM by ISA)

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • 3 + years of demonstrated work experience in industrial maintenance.
  • Proficiency with electrical and refrigeration diagnostic equipment (i.e., multimeter, calibration test equipment, leak detector, refrigeration gauges, and scales.).
  • Demonstrated competency in the areas of car
