The Lee Lab in the Department of Neuroscience at The University of Texas at Austin has an exciting opportunity for a Research Engineering/Scientist Associate I. Training in cell culture, microscopy, and other techniques will be provided to ideal candidate. We are looking for someone who is willing to learn and grow into the position. Purpose
To perform research experiments and assist in general lab maintenance.
Responsibilities
Perform lab management duties: oversight of regulatory/compliance protocols (e.g., IACUC, IBC, UT HERD); onboarding of lab personnel; serve as main contact for sales representatives, shipments/receipt of reagents/animal strains to/from collaborators; oversight of lab reagent inventories.
Delegation of responsibilities to, and supervision of, undergraduate assistants.
Oversight of mouse colonies including use of mLims software.
Collaborate with other lab personnel on projects.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and two years of related experience in the areas of molecular biology, neuroscience, or related fields.
Thorough knowledge of special equipment used in the field of research.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in small animal surgery/tissue harvesting.
Experience in cell culture, molecular biology, various forms of microscopy, or related techniques.
Salary Range
$42,000 + depending on qualifications
