Job Description

U.S. Bank is seeking a Senior Business Intelligence Developer to advance our enterprise analytics and reporting capabilities. This role designs, delivers, and optimizes BI solutions that enable trusted, data‑driven decision making across the organization. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in modern BI platforms, strong data modeling skills, and the ability to lead by influence through mentorship and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and support scalable BI solutions using Power BI, Tableau, Azure data services, and SQL‑based platforms.
  • Lead the design of semantic models, datasets, and reporting layers to enable reliable self‑service analytics.
  • Partner with business stakeholders, product teams, and data engineering to translate analytical needs into well‑architected solutions.
  • Evaluate and estimate new BI requests, considering feasibility, effort, performance, cost, and alignment with enterprise standards.
  • Build and optimize complex SQL queries, reports, dashboards, and analytical models.
  • Develop and maintain reusable BI components, templates, and shared datasets.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and tune BI environments for performance, scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Ensure BI solutions comply with information security, data governance, and enterprise standards.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and development best practices.

Leadership & Mentorship

  • Serve as a technical mentor for junior and mid‑level BI developers.
  • Provide guidance on BI architecture, data modeling, visualization best practices, and performance optimization.
  • Contribute to BI strategy, tooling decisions, and continuous improvement of development practices.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience 
  • At least 7 years experience within a total information technology (IT) environment. 
  • At least 5 years experience with BI applications; decision support systems, query and reporting, online analytical processing, statistical analysis, forecasting, and data mining. 
  • At least 4 years experience with tools, facilities and techniques for managing and administering data. 


Preferred Skills/Experience

Strong experience with:

  • Power BI (datasets, semantic models, DAX, deployment)
  • Tableau (dashboard design, published data sources, performance optimization)
  • SQL (advanced querying and optimization)
  • Azure data services (Azure SQL, Synapse, Data Factory)
  • Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate)
  • Data warehousing and dimensional modeling
  • BI performance tuning and troubleshooting

Additional experience in:

  • Advanced analytics and data mining
  • Application development tools and frameworks
  • Information security and data protection
  • Enterprise IT standards and environments
  • Alteryx/ETL development (data preparation, analytics workflows, integration with BI platforms)
  • Application delivery processes (Agile, SDLC, CI/CD)

This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.
