This role is part of the Lunar Transportation business unit. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building a sustainable infrastructure for transporting grew and cargo from Earth to the Lunar Surface. 

 

As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers the candidate applies standard engineering techniques to design, install, modify, analyze, repair, and test tools, engines, machines, and other mechanically functioning equipment. Development, release, and support of engineering artifacts across the development cycle to support hardware fabrication, assembly, verification, test, and operations. Implements operating procedures, resolves system malfunctions, and provides technical information. Researches and analyzes customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications. Specifies system components or directs modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications. Investigates equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations to maintenance crew. 

 

You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of designing, building, testing, and flying Environmental Control and Life Support (ECLS) flight hardware.   The ECLS System is composed of the essential hardware to allow humans to safely inhabit space.   ECLSS circulates air around the vehicle picking up carbon dioxide, humidity, and trace contaminants to be scrubbed and provides oxygen for breathing.   The internal cabin pressure is maintained and monitored.   Clean drinking water is provided to the crew.  The ECLS system also monitors for emergencies such as rapid depressurization and fire and counteracts them.   

 

The Flow Control Assembly is a part of the atmosphere revitalization system.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

 

  • Own the flow control and distribution system for atmosphere revitalization through the entire life cycle:  Conception, Design, Build, Test, Install, and Operations. 
  • Perform system calculations. 
  • Solve technical and program problems with the help of your team. 
  • Be actively involved in development testing of your hardware. 
  • Lead a multi-discipline product team. 
  • Determine and manage schedule and budget for owned hardware. 
  • Show system and component compliance to Blue and NASA technical requirements. 
  • Be the technical point of contact for your hardware. 

  • Adhere to Blue Leadership Principles. 

 

Minimum Qualifications 

 

  • BS in related engineering field 
  • Experience in one or more areas of the product life cycle 
  • Experience leading small technical teams 
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

 

  • Experience with valves and air ducting 
  • Working knowledge of Creo 
  • Experience with small project management 
  • Worked on a crewed spaceflight program 
Compensation range for on site WA applicants is$89,820—$125,748 USD
