What we do:
The Lead Test Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and providing technical guidance and oversight for data acquisition systems supporting Test and Evaluation projects. This position involves contributing technically to support ground-based and airborne test platforms. The Lead Test Instrumentation Engineer is deeply involved in constructing the test platforms and works with the technical engineering teams to gather the test instrumentation requirements.
What you can do:
- Lead the design of data acquisition, test instrumentation, and telemetry systems, including component and sensor selection
- Design, procure, install, maintain, and upgrade test instrumentation and telemetry systems based on a set of given and derived requirements
- Collaborate with project technical teams to gather and comprehend the project's design requirements
- Provide solutions for manufacturing, assembly, and installation of data acquisition and telemetry systems
- Lead the creation and maintenance of test article instrumentation parameter lists for one or more projects
- Identify and troubleshoot any issues with the instrumentation and telemetry components, then devise and implement a plan for repairing and maintaining them.
- Create, maintain, and report instrumentation squawk lists for problematic parameters that cannot be fixed between tests .
- Represent the T&E group in pre- and post-test briefings and provide updates on instrumentation and telemetry status
- Manage relationships with key material and component vendors.
- Provide technical support to vendors and manufacturing teams
- Lead the efforts to procure hardware to support group functions
- Up to 25% of domestic and international travel
- Other duties as assigned
What you can contribute:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering with a minimum of ten (10) years of Test Engineering experience
- Five (5) or more years of airborne data acquisition systems, e.g. Teletronics (TTC) experience
- Three (3) or more years in various types of transducers, signal conditioning, and data encoders
- Three (3) or more years of telemetry systems, e.g. Quasonix experience
- Five (5) or more years of Telemetry Data Display implementation e.g. Curtis-Wright IADS
- Five (5) or more years of flight test digital data recorders, e.g. ACRA, Safran (formerly Zodiac/Heim)
- Three (3) or more years of data processing and storage methods and systems
- Five (5) or more years in test methods and lab procedures
- Five (5) or more years in Mil Standards, Digital Busses architecture (ARINC, 1553) knowledge
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proactive delivery of communication and follow-up
