Position Summary

The senior manager, Support Programs is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and assessing programs designed to support student success. The senior manager, with support from the Associate Dean of Support Programs, manages support programs services, activities that support student progress, completion, and post completion success. The senior manager supervises staff, oversees departmental operations, conducts program evaluation for effectiveness, and ensures quality programming and collaborative partnerships across all campus locations and the surrounding community.

 
 Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the purpose of community colleges and the vision of Dallas College.

  • Highly collaborative leader with experience in a comparable and complex college and a proven track record of enhancing quality and excellence in student advocacy.

  • Experience in strategic planning, assessment of program(s) effectiveness, and development of guidelines to enhance student success units within the institution and with accrediting bodies.

  • Experience leading or managing major student success initiatives, developing, implementing, and analyzing data to make informed decisions.

  • Knowledge, understanding, and application of appropriate student development theories.  

  • Experience bridging the gap between theory and practice for the benefit of students.

  • An understanding of contemporary issues in higher education is required through professional development activities.

  • Ability to work effectively with students from varying backgrounds.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of student issues through programming, resource management, and other professional activities.

  • Ensure compliance with FERPA and associated policies that protect the privacy and confidentiality of student and employee information.

  • Ability to maintain confidential information as appropriate.

  • Ability to stay informed of the rapidly evolving legal, social, and political landscape.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, complex ideas, and information to various stakeholders.

  • Excellent time management, and organizational and problem-solving skills.  

  • Skills in technological support and delivery of student programs and services; knowledge and skill in using integrated software systems.

Physical Requirements

Normal physical job functions performed within a standard office environment. Reasonable accommodation may be made for individuals with physical challenges to perform the essential duties and responsibilities. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education with three (3) years of demonstrative leadership experience.

  • Official transcripts required.

  • Current and valid Texas driver’s license required and acceptable driving record.

  • Ability to work extended hours beyond the regular 8:00 am to 5:00 pm workday especially during heavy registration peak times including nights and weekends.

  • Assist with transporting students to engagement opportunities as needed using Dallas College vehicles.

  • Excellent interpersonal relations skills.

  • Bilingual or multilingual preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, design, and implement comprehensive programs.

  • Develop goals and objectives; collects appropriate data; and completes assessments of results assigned; recommends modifications to existing services based on outcomes.

  • Demonstrate ability to envision, plan and follow through with trending student development theories, ideas, activities, training, and programming.

  • Work collaboratively with college and community partners to enhance the recruitment, development, enrichment, retention, and student experience.

  • Advise senior administrators in implementing programs, new initiatives, and special projects.
