Production Technician

Responsibilities
- Assist in all project areas of the Exhibition Production division and the Design and Architecture department as needed.
- Assist Museum Cabinet Maker in the finishing of display cases and the transporting of cases to and from galleries.
- Assist Museum Painter in display case finishing and any painting projects.
- Assist Museum Lighting Technician with any tasks relating to the lighting of museum galleries.
- Production and installation of labels, signage, vinyl, and other forms of exhibition and wayfinding graphics.
- Installation of fabric coverings on decks/backboards/blocks/wedges and other case display items for permanent collection and special exhibition using a variety of conservation materials and fabrics.
- Assist other areas in the Design & Architecture department when requested by the Head of Exhibition Production or the Director of Design and Architecture.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements and Key Competencies
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); strong understanding of craft and construction techniques; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Employee must possess a valid driver's license. Employee should have the ability to read scaled, detail drawings or layouts and to work well under pressure to meet deadlines. Overtime will be required at times.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Must be able to safely handle fragile, cumbersome, and valuable objects. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
A flexible mindset and professional demeanor are critical to this role as the employee interacts with all levels of museum staff and the public. The employee must be a team-oriented individual who works well in a collaborative environment.
40 hours a week / Hourly rate: $21.74 / $45,226 annual
