Job Description

The General Chemistry and Physical Testing Analyst will prepare and analyze environmental samples using standard analytical techniques according to scientific and EPA methodology in compliance with Eurofins’ Quality Assurance programs and Standard Operating Procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate and promote the company vision
  • Show regular attendance and punctuality
  • Perform job functions in compliance with Eurofins Environment Testing’s EHS and QA standards
  • Apply GMP/GLP in all areas of responsibility, as appropriate
  • Work under close supervision using routine and standard methods
  • Take responsibility for general housekeeping in group’s work area
  • Learn to use the Laboratory Information Management System to access sample backlogs, schedule work, record essential data and information, calculate results and report client data.
  • Perform routine lab tasks that provide experience and familiarization with methods, practices, and programs. These include:
    • Aliquot and weigh samples
    • Wash glassware
    • Prepare samples using standard techniques
    • Record and report data in a laboratory information system
    • Perform chemical analysis using standard techniques
    • Calculate data
    • Perform basic instrumental analysis such as bomb calorimetry, titrations or ion chromatography
    • Perform routine instrument maintenance
    • Conduct all activities in a safe and efficient manner
    • Perform other duties as assigned

The successful candidate will demonstrate the willingness and ability to become trained and competent in the use of complex instrumentation including but not limited to gel permeation chromatography, gas chromatography, gas chromatography/mass spectrometry, atomic absorption, ICP, instrument specific data systems and laboratory management systems.

 Work Schedules:

Work schedules are generally Monday - Friday 8 AM to 4:30 PM with a half hour lunch break.  Split shifts and night shifts will be considered for trained staff.  Overtime is offered and may be expected when needed to meet work load demands.

Qualifications

Basic Minimum Qualifications (BMQ): To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill or ability required.

  • Education/Experience: BS or BA in chemistry or related field or attending college for a degree.
  • Partial completion of a degree in the natural sciences with relevant laboratory experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Laboratory experience is very desirable.
  • Willingness to work a second shift is very desirable.
  • Previous production-oriented work helpful (awareness and ability to meet deadlines)
  • Authorization to work in the United States without restriction or sponsorship.

Desirable Skills and Ability:

  • Reading, writing and speaking skills
  • Use calculator/mathematical formulas and concepts
  • Computer skills, such as word processing, using spreadsheets
