In Global Data Insight & Analytics (GDIA), we aspire to navigate Ford Motor Company through the disruptiveness of the information age, harnessing the power of data and artificial intelligence to realize the enterprise’s known goals, reveal hidden opportunities, and achieve data superiority. 

The GDIA complexity Analytics team develops data products, analytic software and provides insights to a broad range of skill teams and delivers value to Ford using critical thinking, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and optimization techniques. 

As a Software Engineer in Design Cost & Complexity Analytics, you will be driving technical strategy and execution to design, build, and deliver robust, scalable software solutions. You will involve in all phases of SDLC (designing, Architecting, developing, testing, and deploying software applications). You will collaborate with Data Scientists, Data Engineers and Software Engineers to develop robust analytics products. You will use your knowledge of the product driven operating model, analytic and software delivery via Google Cloud Platform to optimize the delivery of value. You will interact with business partners in Design Cost & Complexity Analytics to align with their needs and processes to ensure relevancy of products. The team you will be working is focused on building several products and platforms across various skill teams within GDIA.

What you'll do...

  • Work closely with the Product Manager and Product Owner to translate Business Value needs (the WHAT) into User Stories (the HOW) for delivery by Software Engineers.
  • Proficient in both front-end (user interface) and back-end (server-side logic, databases) development. 
  • Proficient with Python, APIs, GCP, git, AI/ML, angular or react, etc.
  • Design and implement RESTful APIs for communication between different parts of the application. 
  • Work with both SQL and NoSQL databases, designing schemas and writing efficient queries. 
  • Analyze complex problems, identify bottlenecks, and develop effective solutions. 
  • Act as a consultant to the business vs. an order taker.
  • Work closely with Architect and Software Engineers to architect the solutions to the business need
  • Define best practices and standards, working with other Technical Anchors for the Product as well as COE/Operations for the tools used (Python, Java, Angular, react, git, GCP, etc.).
  • Abide by all Information Security Policies.
  • Balance "doing it right" with "speed to delivery" by identifying and mitigating risk, generating options, educating business and other decision makers, and taking on justified technical debt.
  • Participate in hiring and talent retention activities – interviews.
  • Lead by example in use of paired programming for cross training/upskilling, problem solving, and speed to delivery.

You'll have... 

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related.
  • 5+ years of Progressive responsibilities in IT with Development experience.
    • Strong desire to learn new skills and apply to solve business problems/opportunities.
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to teach others.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with others and navigate complex decision making.
