Job Description
We are looking for a highly-motivated, independent Sustainability Ecosystem Engagement Manager with a background in environmental science and/or chemical engineering, as well as sustainability, circular economy and design for recycling . Your role is to lead sustainability ecosystem engagement, to drive insights about external sustainability needs (e.g. recycling processes, Design For Recycling criteria) and to help define requirements for our product portfolio. You will develop an in-depth knowledge of the sustainability ecosystem we are currently engaged in (e.g. packaging associations, recyclers), our products, materials used and production processes.
You will be part of Avery Dennison EMENA Materials Sustainability Team and work closely with R&D, Marketing and Procurement. The role of the Sustainability Team is to support the organization with the execution of our 2030 Sustainability Goals.
The ideal candidate will be based in Oegstgeest, the Netherlands.
Responsibilities include:
- Engage with our external ecosystem representing Avery Dennison LPM EMENA across the pan-European and national industry associations (e.g. promote our products in Design For Recycling forums)
- Drive industry-wide understanding on Pressure Sensitive Labels capabilities (e.g. Design For Recycling Criteria, testing protocols, LCAs, etc)
- Build internal capabilities on Ecodesign, circularity, enabling recyclability of our products
- Drive communication between external ecosystem (recycling, associations) and internal teams (marketing, R&D, procurement) to promote circularity practices in our product portfolio
- Lead project management for complex sustainability related cross-functional projects
- Research Sustainability trends on new materials and technologies that could help the company on the future product portfolio development
- Work on developing internal programs and projects to align Avery Denisson LPM’s product portfolio with the external sustainability needs (e.g alignment with recyclability testing protocols and ecodesign guidelines)
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in material science, eco-design, life cycle analysis, recycling process, experience with plastic packaging recycling is a significant plus.
- Ideal candidate has experience working or engaging with recyclers and has a network across packaging recycling associations
- Experience in multinational environment is a plus
- Bsc degree in Environmental Science, Chemical engineering, Mechanical engineering
- Structured mind set and strong project management and communication skills
- Strong influence skills and able to translate complex material in a simple way
- Fluency in English. Additional languages are strongly preferred
- Willingness to travel (30%)
