Position Summary

Under close direction, performs clinical and health services research by conducting sophisticated statistical analysis for a variety of projects. This role contributes to the advancement of research both scientifically and statistically. Scientifically, this position assists faculty in the development of study design, evaluation tools and methods associated with various projects. Statistically, this position collaborates and advises faculty on most appropriate statistical methods to apply to research design and outcomes analysis. The Research Biostatistician I also has opportunities for authorship on publications stemming from his/her work.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for database design programming, database management and assistance with study design.
  • Analyzes health care data and health care claims data using basic and advanced statistical methodologies, interprets results for investigators, and prepares reports.
  • Writes program code to analyze data using statistical analysis software. Develops and implements data analysis algorithms.
  • Prepares statistical data for inclusion in reports to data monitoring committees, federal regulatory agencies, and study sponsors (federal and non-federal). Draws conclusions or make predictions based on data summaries or statistical analysis.
  • Responsible for accuracy and timeliness of statistical input into reports and decisions. Identifies and corrects flaws in interpretation of results, inconsistency in presentation or inference.
  • Makes recommendations for appropriate statistical analyses and design to investigators and study team.
  • Contributes to teaching biostatistical methodology to medical students, residents, fellows and other staff.
  • Collaborates on grants, presentations and manuscripts submitted for publication.

Education

  • Master's Degree

Experience

Approximately 1-2 years biostatistical consulting experience, either within the academic curriculum or as part of a consulting service unit.

  • Expertise in basic and advanced statistical analyses
