About the Role

The Director of Clinical Services (DCS) provides leadership and clinical oversight to ensure the highest standards of clinical excellence and patient-centered care. This role exists to design, implement, and sustain evidence-based treatment programs (e.g., CBT, DBT) that drive measurable outcomes, uphold regulatory compliance, and foster recovery across the continuum of care. By championing evidence-based practices, advancing staff competencies, and embedding fidelity to proven models of care, the DCS creates a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement. Through collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and leaders, the DCS ensures that high quality clinical services are provided consistently and in alignment with hospital’s mission and goals.

Attributes of our Ideal Candidate

  • 10+ years of counseling experience in the substance use disorder field
  • 5+ years of counseling experience working at a residential treatment facility
  • Master’s degree in counseling, addiction, or a related field (doctorate preferred)
  • Be fully licensed in Tennessee as an LPC or LADAC (Level II)
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, develop, and retain strong multidisciplinary teams (counselors, therapists, techs, nursing support), while creating accountability, culture, and consistency across a 24/7 operation.
  • Strong experience building and operationalizing outcomes-driven clinical programs—defining success metrics, tracking KPIs, and using data to continuously improve care delivery and payer alignment.
  • Ability to design and implement a structured, scalable clinical curriculum (group programming, tracks, specialty services) that is evidence-based (CBT, DBT, MI, trauma-informed care) and clearly differentiated in the market.
  • Understands the complexity of round-the-clock programming—staffing models, shift accountability, handoffs, documentation expectations, and maintaining clinical integrity across all hours.
  • Capable of building a comprehensive clinical ecosystem—integrating ancillary services (family program, psychiatric services, experiential therapies, aftercare, alumni), rather than operating in silos.
  • Deep understanding of regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., CARF/TJC), ensuring documentation integrity, clinical appropriateness, and readiness for audits and payer reviews.
  • Able to shift team mindsets, implement new clinical models, and drive adoption—especially important as you evolve toward a more outcomes-based, structured, and measurable program
  • Experience aligning clinical programming with payer expectations and utilization management
