Job Description
The Scientist of Device Technology Assessment and Early Development will spearhead early-stage device technology evaluation and feasibility initiatives. This role will focus on front-end development, emphasizing the exploration and assessment of emerging drug delivery device technologies. The ideal candidate will lead efforts in assessing the viability of new concepts and drive early development to enable assets more efficiently in our Company's early portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
Evaluate cutting-edge drug delivery device technologies and their potential applications to our Company's pipeline.
Support early feasibility/development studies to determine viability and inform on technology selection and development strategies. This includes, but not limited to, design for manufacture/function analysis, preliminary supply chain development, and supplier risk assessment(s).
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate these technological insights into an actionable preliminary development strategy to progress forward to late phase development and commercialization.
Foster a culture of innovation by encouraging creative problem-solving and experimentation.
Education:
B.A./B.S in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Industrial and/or Systems Engineering, or other types of engineering with 2 years of design, engineering, and mechanical testing experiences.
OR
Master's in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Industrial and/or Systems Engineering, or other types of engineering.
Qualifications and Experience:
Proven track record of applying product design and development methodology in the medical device and/or combination product space.
Ability to understand individual components and assemblies of drug delivery devices - for example, design, manufacturing and making suggestions for improvements.
Strong interpersonal skills and a strategic thinker; able to influence without formal authority; ability to influence and present complex ideas.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse functional areas and external partners.
Self-motivated and work independently.
