Job Description

Platform Products Technology (PPT) team is building a new generation of products to facilitate commerce in everyone's digital and mobile lives. Our focus is to build intuitive features that expose profound new value for our customers, merchants and developers.

As a Sr. Consultant within PPT you will form an integral role in the development, test, and deployment of complex solutions that process millions of transactions per day worldwide. We are looking for experienced stars who understand the challenges in the development and test cycles and are passionate about solving some of these challenges systematically and efficiently.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work with engineering leaders on long term architecture
• Work on development of new products and enhancements to existing systems iteratively by building quick POCs and converting ideas into real products
• Monitor health of the digital products and generate performance reports and provide continuous improvements.
• Identify opportunities for further enhancements and refinements to standards and processes
• Work with product owners to understand the desired application capabilities
• Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement and support technical solutions across a production engineering tools and technologies
• Continuously improve software engineering practices
• Understand system design and architecture of various software applications.
• Work on establishing a well defined process for a centralized Site Reliability Engineering across the PPT PD
• Play a part in supporting multiple projects which deals with real-time transactional services, REST services API, container based microservices to highly functional, secure, scalable and resilient real time and batching systems.
• Conduct technical analysis and code reviews. Implement, and produce technical documentation of solutions for system enhancements, product gaps and production support.
• Provide recommendations for modifications and corrections to existing software, including the development of debugging routines.
• Provides mentorship and guidance to junior & staff engineering members.
• Participate in cross-functional teams and work with architects, systems analysts, project managers, QA and other developers to implement business requirements while applying the latest available tools and technology.
• Work under direct supervision to ensure on-time delivery of production tasks, production support plans, and knowledge transfer for long-term supportability of upgrades, enhancements, and deployments.
• We need our engineers to be versatile, display ownership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• 8+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 5years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 11+ years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD
• Minimum 10 years of experience in Design, development, and deployment of multi-tiered web-based enterprise applications using Java, J2EE technologies including either Hibernate, Spring, JDBC, JNDI, IBM MQ Series, or Web services (SOAP, REST)
