Department Summary

The mission of the Division of Student Affairs is to create solutions for a healthier community by fostering student success. There are 8 functional units within the Division of Student Affairs: Center for Student Life, Career Readiness Center, Center for Academic Performance, Office of Care and Civility, Testing and Evaluation Services, International Services, Office of Disability Access, and Student Assistance Resource Center.

Position Overview

The Division of Student Affairs at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is seeking to hire an Assistant Director, Student Assistance Resource Center (SARC) to join our team. This position will assist the Director of SARC with managing Fitness Center operations, and developing, sustaining, and growing SARC programs and services. This position will be responsible for providing management support for staff within SARC, including budget and strategic planning, oversight of fitness center software, and supervision of part-time staff and volunteers. This position will act on the behalf of the director when the director is unavailable.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and four (4) years' of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

*Strong customer service orientation, problem solving, and organizational skills.
*Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
*Ability to manage and supervise staff, foster employee retention, facilitate open communication, and encourage continuous performance improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:
* Master’s degree and/or four years of experience in a related field.
* Experience with fitness facility management

Job Duties:

  • Provide leadership and/or supervision of staff, student workers, and interns. Hires and trains SARC student employees, including front desk staff, group exercise instructors, personal trainers, and interns.
  • Manages Fitness Center building, ensuring any repairs or maintenance issues are promptly addressed. 
  • Manage the Fitness Center strategic plan to execute specific project goals and outcomes.
  • Assists in budget development and purchasing processes for the Fitness center,
