Additional Job Description:

WVU Health System (WVUHS) seeks a Medical Director of Urgent Care. The successful candidate will be expected to practice in the primary location of Canonsburg, PA.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION,'CERTIFICATION, AND/ORLICENSURE:

1. Medical Degree and Board Certification in primary care specialty.

2. Active medical licensure through the West Virginia Board of Medicine or Board of Osteopathic Medicine and other states as appropriate for work assignments.

EXPERIENCE:

1. Minimum of seven years of experience in a healthcare setting is required.

2. Minimum of three years of management experience.

3. Minimum of three years of Urgent Care experience.

PREFERRED: QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Minimum of five years of urgent care experience

2. Experience with recruitment, assessing urgent care service staffing models, and quality improvement.

All qualifications must be met at the time of appointment.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. They are not intended to be constructed as an all-inclusive list of responsibilities and duties. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Administrative - approximately 80% effort. Provides development, management and leadership skills to the Urgent Care services in partnership with regional leadership contracting for urgent care medicine services.

2. Clinical Practice - approximately 20% effort. Practices or provides direct administrative oversight of high-quality clinical urgent care in a manner typical of our professional staff that includes use of the electronic medical record, billable services, and teaching. As

appropriate and reasonable, obtain privileges at hospitals served by the WVUHS Medical Group urgent care service to periodically work urgent care medicine shifts to understand operations at these serviced hospitals.

3. Provides input to Human Resources (HR) office and institutional leaders on best practices for recruitment, retention, and onboarding of physicians and associate medical staff, and engages in the recruitment and retention of urgent care providers.

4. Works to understand and optimize workplace satisfaction. Maintains regular interactions with the professional staff and other stakeholders to enhance relationships and integration.

5. Supports the growth and development of WVUHS Urgent Care service contracts in primary, secondary, and tertiary markets.

6. Helps develop, implement, and execute policies and procedures relating to urgent care medicine services in coordination with regional leadership. Works to extend an effective quality improvement function and process across all the components of WVU Medicine.

7. Participates in the development of urgent care service business plans, proforma analyses, and other exercises related to financial accountability. Participates in the annual operating and capital budget preparation.

8. Engages in the oversight of urgent care locums and staffing agency contracts and relationships. Works in concert with the Emergency Medicine services where appropriate.

9. Engages in performance improvement processes within the WVUHS and with other entities as contracted.

10. Ensures compliance with local policies, bylaws, rules and regulations, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Maintains an awareness of regulatory standards and guidelines, as well as standards for federal programs and state licensure requirements, including proposed

changes.

11. Maintains an awareness of regulations, policies, procedures, and standards for third party payers.

12. Actively participates in the marketing of the WVU Medicine Urgent Care Services, WVUHS Medical Group, and WVUHS.

13. Actively engages and facilitates close working relationships with other urgent care services associated with the WVUHS that are external to the WVUHS Medical Group.
