Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking a driven Satellite Communications (SATCOM) Engineer to support the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Secure Communications Operations and Maintenance (GMD SCOM) contract located at Fort Greely, Alaska to support our mission critical customer.
The Satellite Communications Engineer will be responsible for the following but not limited to:
- Performing Operations and Maintenance (O&M) on SATCOM and FAB-T satellite stations to include all hardware and software associated with their specific systems; baseband equipment suites; power generation subsystems; power distribution and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) subsystems; and Test, Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) to ensure 99.9% system availability and reliability.
- Maintaining all MILSATCOM and DRSN network memberships, Satellite Access Authorizations (SAA) and Authorization to Operate (ATOs) as tasked by the Government
- Monitoring approved Authorized Service Interruptions (ASI) for all MILSATCOM circuits, trunks, etc., that may or will cause a loss of service to customers.
- Maintaining a Master Station Log (MSL)
- Assisting the government with supply processes to include Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA)
- Providing familiarization and annual refresher training on the Integrated Service Telephones (IST) and Touch Screen Executive Telephone (TXP) for all users/customers of those devices
- Supporting inventories of Prescribed Load List (PLL), spares, TMDE, Controlled Cryptographic Items (CCI), Communication Security (COMSEC) material, Property Book, and incidental items
- Performing duties as either a Primary or Alternate COMSEC Local Element (LE) (hand receipt holder) for MILSATCOM COMSEC to the MDA KOAM.
- Performing Crypto device updates and perform CRO duties.
- Performing duties as either a Primary or Alternate Node Site Coordinator (NSC) for MILSATCOM
- Supporting Site Management in the collection of data/artifacts, as necessary, to ensure 100% CDRL compliance
- Gaining and maintaining access to Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System (JWICS)/Secure Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNET) or other classified systems in support of this work effort.
- Supporting all Government MILSATCOM upgrades, enhancements, lifecycle, and other equipment improvements
- Completing and maintaining all initial and annual training requirements, to include but not limited to Threat Awareness and Reporting Program (TARP), Intelligence Oversight (IO), Safety, Hazmat, New Equipment, Sustaining Equipment, Cybersecurity Awareness, Cyber Security Fundamentals, Antiterrorism, iSalute, Force Protection, Operations Security, Escort, and all Government and Peraton required training.
- Supporting, as required, mission operations at other CONUS and OCONUS locations for an extended period
- Providing escort support of uncleared contractors and vendors, as needed.
- Performing/supporting Site additional duty and cross-training initiatives to enhance mission support capabilities
- Supporting site inspections activities to ensure quality, safety, and compliance requirements are maintained as described in the Performance Work Statement, site specific Occupational Safety and Health Administration publications, and local/state policies/regulations
Supporting Peraton growth (i.e. proposals, Requests for Information, Subject Matter Expert resource) activities
The Fort Greely mission critical support requires maintaining a team presence 24 hours per day, seven (7) days per week, and 365/366 days per year, including federal holidays.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Active/current Secret Security Clearance
- High School Diploma plus 2 years of relevant experience
- Two (2+) years of hands-on experience with a SATCOM terminal (preferably an AN/GSC-52B and FAB-T)
- Graduate of a Satellite Communications Military Technical Training Course or FAB-T Military Technical Training Course or both
- Current DoD 8140 Security+ Certification
- Be willing to work shifts
Desired Qualifications
- Sufficient knowledge of SATCOM theory and industry standards
- Sufficient knowledge of SATCOM system equipment maintenance procedures, policies, and requirements for SATCOM terminals outside the prescribed assets mentioned in the job req
- Knowledge of DISA Pacific practices and policies
- Experience working with C-Band SATCOM Terminals.
- Computing Environment Certification: Linux and Windows Computing Environment certification is a plus
