About the role

Defense Analyst, Junior

Key Role:

Provide Navy leadership clients with executive level support. Support the maintenance of day-to-day operations of Navy leadership in a program office. Leverage knowledge of existing Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) systems and databases to coordinate, track, report, and make appropriate analysis and recommendations to support government decisions on requirements, milestones, and progress. Provide thoughtful analysis to support strategic communications with the development and implementation of Navy and Marine Corps strategy and policy. Analyze risk-based strategies for processes and planning. Analyze and track metrics for strategy implementation. Provide analysis to identify, define, and close requirements using the legislative process.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience working in a professional environment

  • Experience supporting executive leaders including Member of Congress or DoD officials

  • Experience with strategic communications as part of annual Authorization and Appropriations process, the DoD budget and acquisition process, including Program Objective Memorandum (POM) preparation, Budget Estimate Submissions (BES), President’s Budget (PB) Exhibit preparation, and working around senior Congressional staff or DoD officials

  • Experience with Navy staff or Defense, Joint Staff, or Combatant Command (COCOM) staff

  • Experience with requirements analysis and identification in Navy and Marine Corps programs

  • Experience with regular direct client interactions, including supporting project delivery, delivering presentations, leading client meetings, and working independently, creatively, and analytically in a problem-solving environment

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Ability to track acquisition and procurement goals as they move through the legislative cycle and plan, organize, and execute tasks with minimal direction

  • Secret clearance

  • Scheduled to obtain a Bachelor's degree by Spring/Summer 2024
