Job Description:

Parsons is seeking a talented Senior Modeling and Simulation Software Developer to join our diverse team supporting the warfighter and prominent acquisition and intelligence programs. The Parsons team supports a customer providing a critical role in our nation’s defense by assessing, developing, and integrating intelligence-backed, medium- to high-fidelity threat system models from across the Defense Intelligence Enterprise into a cohesive wargame simulation environment.

In this role, you will be a key part of a development team comprised of engineers and software developers working together to assess systems and develop software models of real-world threat weapon systems that capture the capabilities and limitations of emerging and fielded systems. You will contribute to the entire development process, including requirements definition/decomposition, design, development, integration, testing, and verification and validation. Our team develops and maintains a variety of weapon system models, including electronic warfare systems, communication systems, radar systems, command and control systems, surface-to-air missile systems, gun-based defense systems, and mobile ground and air platforms.

The Software Developer will support and potentially lead team activities focusing on prototyping and developing digital twin software models of threat weapon systems including Surface-to-Air Missile Systems (SAMs), advanced radar platforms, missile seekers, datalinks, and Command and Control (C2/C4/C5ISR) systems. You will work closely with RF, radar, C4, and missile subject-matter experts, using strong C++ and Python programming skills to assess, design, develop, and test complex software. You will implement state-of-the-art software modeling practices and techniques while innovating to advance the capabilities of the current software suite.

The Parsons team has supported this customer for over 25 years, building a growing team with an established relationship that drives mission success.

Why This Job Is Exciting:

  • Work That Matters – Directly support the warfighter, acquisition community, and decision-makers by enabling the intelligence community to answer complex, critical questions quickly

  • New Challenges Every Day – Work on evolving customer needs, gaining exposure to emerging defense technologies spanning ground, surface, space, and cyber domains

  • Competitive Pay and Benefits – Join a company that prioritizes its employees, offering industry-leading compensation, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for professional growth

  • Security Clearance Opportunities – Parsons provides sponsorship and opportunities to upgrade security clearances for career advancement

What You’ll Be Doing:

1.) Developing and enhancing software digital twins using C++ and Python on Windows and Linux platforms including:

  • Modeling advanced threat systems such as Surface-to-Air Missile Systems (SAMs), radar platforms, and missile seekers

  • Developing high-fidelity propagation effects, including terrain masking, refraction, and over-the-horizon propagation

  • Creating tracking filters and signal processing chains for radar and electronic warfare systems

  • Supporting simulation studies and integrating models into larger mission-level simulations

  • Algorithm and technique development supporting Sensors, Missiles, and C4 including active/passive detection, clutter modeling, electronic attack, waveform selection, adaptive beamforming, weapon/target assignment optimization

2.) Defining requirements and designing solutions for modeling and simulation (M&S) software

3.) Automated unit, system, and system-of-systems test planning, development, and execution

4.) Participating in technical discussions to assist in near-term and long-term planning.

5.) Collaborating within a team and mentoring junior/mid-level software developers.
