Sr. Manager Software Engineering

We are searching for an experienced Senior Manager in Software Engineering (SWE) to lead, develop, and scale our growing SWE Center of Excellence (CoE) made up of an elite group of all types of software engineers (back-end, front-end, full stack, DevOps) working on a diverse range of client applications as well as innovative in-house product development initiatives.
Functional Responsibilities:
- Own the end-to-end strategic planning for the CoE, such as growth strategy, defining key areas of focus, career paths, and setting up leadership roles and responsibilities within the whole team.
- Manage and successfully execute company and team objectives in a dynamic, start-up-oriented, fast-paced engineering environment.
- Serve as a strategic counselor for clients in their most pressing needs, ranging from helping them sort out situations with Factored Talent to driving conversations about what is happening in the market as thought leaders.
- Balance engineers' interests and Factored goals in conversations with multiple stakeholders across the company (e.g.: Sales, Marketing, Finance, Recruiting, Talent Operations, etc.).
- Keep and enhance streamlined processes that boost efficiency and empower the SWE team.
- Embody Factored values and serve as a respected leader for the Center of Excellence, driving confidence on the team.
- Work in tandem with the People & Culture team to drive high levels of engagement across the entire SWE team.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative culture, encouraging professional growth and continuous learning within the team by partnering closely with Factored’s training team.
- Maintain strong communications with peers and executive leadership to ensure all teams remain in sync on plans and execution status.
- Maintain clear, timely updates to C-Levels, peers and clients on progress, blockers and capacity forecasts.

Qualifications:
- Extensive experience (5+ years) as a Manager/Director leading and building engineering teams in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience working with leading-edge data- and/or software-related technologies.
- Experience managing teams in dynamic, high-growth, innovative technology environments with demonstrated leadership skills spanning project planning/execution, people management, best practices processes, and technical excellence.
- Experience in a professional services company is preferred.
- Proven ability to build, optimize, and scale high-performing software teams in distributed/remote work settings.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information clearly and concisely. Proven ability to manage/lead and inspire teams to meet business objectives.
- Strong hands-on technical experience working with a wide range of data analytics frameworks and tools.
- Familiarity with the complete software development lifecycle including Data Science / Machine Learning, Analytics, and Data Engineering.
- Ability to visually represent complex data patterns to business stakeholders and managers is preferred.
- Excited about sharing your passion for staying abreast of technology trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, and participating in internal/external technology-focused communities.
